Katherine woke up one morning surprised to see a colorful tattooed arm wrapped around her. "Morning." Chris whispered in her ear. "Morning." She mumbled and stretched. "How long have you been here?" She asked rolling over to face him.

"Since you fell asleep at exactly 11:33 last night." He chuckled. "That long? I thought you had business to take care of." She wrapped her arms around him. He tensed up. "He managed to get away. I can't get to him for now." Chris kissed her forehead.

She sat up and stretched again. "That's a first, isn't it?" Chris sat up and crossed his legs. "No. I've had a few fuck ups but I always figure out a way." Katherine raised her eyebrow. "Hard to believe because you're such a perfectionist." She got up and walked to a drawer to gather clothes for the day.

"We can't all be perfect." He said with a smile. "I'm going to get dressed. I'll be right back." Katherine walked into the bathroom. "I'll get breakfast started. Your mother apparently went out to catch up with friends." Chris stood up. "That's nice. Just please don't burn down the kitchen again." She chuckled. Chris laughed. "No promise but I'm getting better."

He walked down the hallway and from the kitchen. He rummaged through cabinets and the fridge thinking of what he could make. After a few minutes, his supernatural hearing heard the sound of footsteps. "You know a bowl of cereal and some fruit would be could on a hot day like this." Katherine said. Chris stood up from searching in a cabinet.

"You're lucky weather doesn't affect you." Katherine sat on the island counter and tied her hair into a ponytail. "I feel bad for you." He said with a teasing smile. Chris began gathering a bowl, silverware, her favorite cereal, and milk before placing everything in front of her. She poured her cereal and milk then took a few spoonful.

"Forgot to tell you that I used the rest of the fruit for that smoothie last night." Chris smiled innocently. Katherine raised her eyebrow playfully. "How dare you!" She laughed.

The two sat in almost comfortable silence. The only sound that could be heard was her chewing. Once she was finished, she put everything away and washed the dishes. Chris gave up years ago telling her that she didn't have to do that.

"Would you like to come with me to the store?" Katherine asked as she tried her hands. "Sure. How about after, I'll get you some ice cream?" Chris smirked. "That sounds good. Let's go!"
