"I'm sorry Gina, I have to go." Katherine threw her phone into her purse. "Something wrong?" Her friend asked worried. "I don't know. Mom sounded scared. I knew I shouldn't have left her alone." Katherine said putting the strap of her purse over her shoulder. She noticed a few people staring curiously to see what was going on but didn't care.

"Especially after what happened. I wish they'd find whoever did this and throw him in prison." Gina said clenching her teeth. Katherine swallowed nervously. She was glad she kept her mouth shut for once. "I'll call you later." She said before rushing out. Gina was going to say something else but didn't have the chance too.

She had never drove home so fast in her entire life. It surprised her that she didn't get pulled over for speeding. It didn't matter right now. Katherine was terrified to think of anything happening to him. She literally thought Chris would be untouchable but to hear something bad happened made her nearly sick to her stomach. Who and how could they've hurt him?

Once she pulled in front of the door, Katherine ran out and into the house. The last thing Katherine expected was to walk in and see a scene like this. She saw Chris propped against the steps of the stairs. A lot of blood was everywhere including all over him. "Chris? What happened?" She ran over and knelt on a step. Katherine gently shook him until he muttered for her to stop.

Chris opened his red glowing eyes. "Deal gone wrong." He said barely audible. "I'll have to explain later." Chris looked at her. For the first time ever, he looked exhausted. That facial expression worried her even more. Footsteps could be heard coming into the room. "Thank goodness, you're home!" Her mother said panting and unfolding a towel.

Her mother had a few towels tucked under her arm and sat next to Chris. She pressed one of the pieces of cloth hard against the wound where his heart is. Both mother and daughter took first aid classes as they worked together to stop the blood. It seemed to be working. He groaned painfully. "Is there anything we need to do?" Katherine asked after a minute.

"Believe it or not. The best way I can heal is by sleep." Chris gently pulled Katherine's mother hand off him. "I thought demons couldn't sleep." Her mother said doubtfully. Chris sat up slowly. "We don't but sleep is known to be a cure for sickness and injury. That is the only time we can ever sleep." He said as if eager for it.

"I just hope I don't sleep for five years like last time." Chris was trying to stand up. Katherine slid his arm across her shoulders and helped him stand. "What did you do to be asleep for that long?" Chris smiled and let out a breathy chuckle. "I fell off a twenty floor building." He said sounding embarrassed.

"I thought you were scared of heights." Katherine said. Chris moved his arm so it was now wrapped around her lower back. "I still am! That explains my fear of heights!" He tried to smile but looked too exhausted. Katherine quietly giggled as she started leading the way to their bedroom.

Katherine was helping Chris up the stairs even if she didn't need to. Her mother followed behind in case they needed help. Once all three of them were in Katherine's bedroom, Chris nearly collapsed onto the bed. "I'll be back with more towels and I'm calling that maid." Her mother rushed out of the room. Katherine helped Chris change into fresh clothes and she cleaned the blood off his tattooed skin.

Katherine laid down next to him when she finished. Chris could barely keep his eyes open. He managed to gather enough strength to run his fingers through her hair. "I'm sorry." He whispered. She kissed his temple and whispered in his ear. "Don't be. I'm just glad you're still here." Katherine kissed his temple lovingly. Chris rested his hands on his stomach before closing his eyes.

"It honestly takes a lot to kill a demon so I should be lucky." He tiredly smiled. "I'm actually looking forward to sleep. The best luxury in the world." Chris actually yawned and was out like a light. Katherine sighed then ran her fingers through his tangled hair. She hated to admit it but she enjoyed seeing him peacefully sleeping. "Good night, Chris. Sweet dreams." Katherine couldn't help but giggle.
