Katherine looked up and down a candy aisle wondering if she wanted anything. Chris was nearby but she could tell things weren't going good for him. A lot of people gave him disgusted looks or she's even heard a few call him names. She guessed because it had to do with him dressed all in black and having tattoos covered from neck to body along with his piercings.
She looked over to see where he was. It wasn't hard to find a man over six feet tall and looking out of place. He was curiously looking through some music magazines, probably getting ideas for his record company. He seemed really interested in one magazine as he looked surprised and grabbed it almost at supernatural speed. He flipped a couple pages and began skimming through.
He raised his now brown eyes away from the page he was reading to see her. Katherine smiled and walked over. "We've been here ten minutes and we haven't gotten anything in the cart yet." She giggled. "And you're complaining about that?" He answered resuming reading. The cover caught her attention and Katherine had to double check that she read it correctly.
Katherine curiously looked to see the magazine he was reading. "Thirty year anniversary of Motionless In White?" She read out loud. "My late band." He whispered so no one could hear. Katherine looked at him in shock. She'd always thought he mostly lived his life as private as possible. The one thing Katherine loved about him was that Chris always had a surprise.
"You heard me. I'm not worried about any fans going crazy over me or the other boys." Chris closed the book and put it back. "By now, most fans would have forgotten us or just think we're inspired to look like ourselves but no one knows the truth." Chris whispered in her ear. "Why didn't you tell me?"
He sighed. "I've done a lot in over 300 years. If your interested, those books in the study are what I've written down." Katherine looked at him. "All those black books?" Her mouth fell open. "Not all. Some are blank awaiting to be written." He wrapped his colorful tattooed arm around her. Chris lightly kissed her temple but it was interrupted a few seconds later.
"Hey! Get your hands off her." A voice yelled, startling Katherine. Chris didn't flinch. A guy that was only a few inches shorter than Chris walked up to him. Two other boys stood behind crossing their arms, trying to look tough. "Give me one good reason." Chris said seriously.
"Miss, is he threatening you?" The guy asked. "No. He's my boyfriend." She said quietly. The man's jaw slightly dropped. "You're dating a deadbeat like him? Sweetheart, I think you deserve better." The guy took a few steps forward. Katherine felt Chris's grip tighten before he stood in front of her. She saw a flash of red in his eyes as he looked at the three and muttered something.
"At least I don't beat women unlike you." Chris crossed his arms. The guy's jaw really dropped this time. "And not a drunk most of the time or steal money." Chris looked at the three of them. "Or that your the notorious gang in town that just loves to cause trouble." The three men looked at each other. "Ho-how do you know that?" One guy behind asked.
A few security guards came over because of a small crowd gathering. "If you'll excuse us, my girlfriend and I like to finish our shopping." Chris took her hand and began walking away while slightly pulling her. Katherine tried to catch up because he was walking away too quickly.
"Hey, wait!" The same guy ran up to them. Chris stopped but pulled Katherine behind him again. She didn't object. She knew he knew something was going to happen. "Seriously, how did you know?" He whispered. "What? That you pretend to act innocent and make people think you do something good but in reality, you just fuck shit up?" Chris said deadpanned. Katherine had the feeling to step back.
The man swallowed nervously. "You're not going to tell the police, are you?" He asked. "I should but unless you leave us alone then I won't." Chris offered. The two guys ran out of the store. A few security guards chased after. "There's the other one! Get him." Three security guards ran up to them. "Shit." The guy took off running past them.
Chris grabbed him by an arm and pulled him back. The guy was surprised how strong Chris was. "Let me go." He said. Chris smiled evilly. "Karma's a bitch, right?" His eyes glowed red for a few seconds. Katherine noticed and gently tapped him. The guy uppercut punched Chris as an attempt to get away.
The guy screamed painfully. Chris just stood there emotionless. The security guards grabbed him and began handcuffing him. Once they started saying his rights, Chris turned to Katherine. "Let's just go home, please?" She wrapped her arms around his torso. He lightly kissed her forehead and wrapped his arm protectively around her.

Hint hint: There's a reason I added those three boys...you won't find out until the very end. 😉
