Katherine tossed and turned. She couldn't stop thinking the surprise Chris had for her. Reaching over, she felt nothing besides her on the bed. She wasn't surprised but wished he was right next to now. Chris has been staying out later trying to catch that one person.
Sighing, she got up and put on a pair of slippers. Quietly as she could, Katherine went down to the kitchen to get a drink. She was surprised to see that she wasn't alone. All she could see was a book in the air being supported by hands. It was how her mother read.
"Mom? What are you doing up?" She asked surprised. Her mother set the book down on the island counter. "I'm going to ask the same thing." Her mother repeated with a smile. They were silent for a while waiting for one or the other to say something.
Katherine sighed and sat next to her. "Chris told me he has a surprise for me." Katherine finally said. Her mother smiled. "Oh, is that so?" She said trying to hide her excitement. Katherine raised her eyebrow. "Do you have any idea what it could be?"
"Nope but whatever it is. I'll know it'll be good." Her mother lied. "It'll take a lot to be better than having to travel from one place to a million miles away without traveling." Katherine said. "Oh, that surprise Chris showed you a few years ago?" Her mother laughed.
"Yeah, that's how Chris told me how he went from being in Pennsylvania to Chicago so quickly. I think that's my favorite power he has. I still want to go to Sweden." Katherine said chuckling. She thought about the time when Chris told her he can transport anywhere in the world but he couldn't do it often. It took a lot of energy and when they went L.A. Chris felt so exhausted for the rest of the day.
"Well, maybe that's the surprise." Her mother suggested even though she knew it wasn't. "Oh, I hope so badly." Katherine sighed dreamily. Her mother laughed. "Get some sleep before he gets home." Her mother stood up and filled a glass of water before handing it to her daughter. "Fine. I will." Katherine got back up and made her way back to her room.

I can't wait to go home in two days. I've never been this homesick and I've been in Wisconsin for only three days so far.
