It was finally the day of Gina and Lee's wedding. While it was mostly happy, there was also some sadness. Lee had to leave overseas two days after for the military. Friends and family were more supporting and tried to keep things positive which made the couple grateful. Everyone was getting ready at a nearby hotel which would later be where the reception would be afterwards. A friend of Lee owned the building so he made sure to plan quickly.
"Chris? Can you help me zip up my dress?" Katherine walked out of the bathroom. She was wearing that light pink dress. He turned around while tightening his tie. Chris's brown eyes widened when he saw her. Katherine had to blink a couple times. She almost didn't recognize him.
He silently spun her around and slowly zipped her dress up. Katherine quietly laughed. "Teaser." She muttered under her breath. "I heard that." He muttered in her ear before kissing her shoulder. Katherine turned around to look at him. She's never seen him without makeup and all of his tattoos covered. "How much foundation did you need to cover all that?" She asked half curious and half teasingly.
Chris smiled. "None. I can change my appearance at will." He lightly pressed his lips to her forehead. When he took a few steps back all of his tattoos were showing. "Show off." Katherine laughed but she was fascinated at the same time. He turned around and grabbed his black suit jacket.
He put it on and turned to face her. All of his tattoos were gone now. "You ready?" Chris asked holding his arm up for her to take. Katherine linked her arm around his. "Just one question." Chris looked at her and raised his natural brow. There wasn't a hint of makeup anywhere on his face. "You won't burn in a church, will you?" Katherine mostly joked.
They both laughed. "No. I've done all the protection spells and then some. I should be ok." He said while they were making their way to the front lobby. Katherine's mother had left before them to help with any other needed preparations. "You're really ok with being around religious people?" She asked this time more serious.
"Those people especially her family, I've dealt with are long gone. Who knows? Maybe they've changed since I haven't dealt with her family in years." Chris opened the door for her. She smiled and walked out. "Would you mind telling me?" She asked a little hesitantly after they reached their vehicle and away from people who might overhear.
He smiled and opened the car door. Katherine got in and buckled in. Once Chris got settled in the drivers side, he hummed in thought. "I don't remember the orders but they've tried burning me at the stake a few times, hangings, cutting me into pieces, drowning me, so on." Katherine looked horrified. Chris didn't look happy either.
"That's how it was back than, Katherine. I'm sure you've heard about the Salem Witch Trials." He started the car and began driving toward their destination. "I can't believe you lived through that. It must have been horrible." She looked down at her dress. Chris sighed. He made a sharp right turn.
"It's complicated. It was good and bad. The good was I learned a lot how to control my powers quickly and had plenty of souls to take. The bad was I lost a lot of loved ones and I was reckless." He took Katherine's hand and tightly squeezed. Katherine smiled happily. "I've changed into a better person as much as I could."
Katherine looked at him with the same smile. Chris stopped at a stoplight before continuing then turning left. "I've also gained new loved ones. I have you and your mother." Katherine smiled more. Chris raised both of their hands and he kissed the back of hers.
Once Chris made another stop, the drive in comfortable silence. It gave both of them time to think. She wondered about something but wasn't sure if she should ask or if it was the right time. Katherine decided to wait until the two of them were married to ask the question. She wanted to have high hopes but she was sure it would never work.

So what do you think the question will be?
Do you really think Chris will burn in church? Haha
Any idea what happens next?I believe the next chapter or two something happens that almost nearly exposes that Chris is a demon....*gasp*
