Katherine and Gina didn't talk about the supposed date. On the way to the dress shop, which Katherine hoped wasn't near the restaurant she was at last night, Gina was having an argument with her father over the phone. It actually suited Katherine just fine because she had plenty of time to think. It seemed that's all she been doing lately. She made a mental note to spend some time alone to do that.
"I'm sorry about that." Gina said as she put her phone in her purse. "Don't be. I thought your dad would be happy about you getting married." Katherine said. "He is but not at how quickly we want to get married." Gina slumped in her seat. Katherine knew exactly what would make her a little happy. "Come on. I know dress shopping will cheer you up." Katherine got out of the car. Her friend sighed then followed.
After a few hours, the two settled on their dresses. Gina found a gorgeous strapless laced dress that had a small trail and a veil that matched. Katherine found a light pink with white beads all over the torso and the skirt part flowed behind her whenever she walked. They purchased the dresses and arranged to had them altered and to be picked up the morning of the wedding.
Before leaving, Katherine asked for a business card. She knew she was going to need it soon. Gina looked at her suspiciously but didn't say a word. Once the two got into the car, Gina finally asked about last night. While driving to the coffee shop, Katherine told a little bit about him. "Well, he seems nice but I don't know about his appearance." Gina said while making a right turn. She wasn't surprised at her friend's response.
Katherine sighed. "What if things did become serious between us?" She looked at her friend. Katherine hated that it was already serious and has been for years. Gina finished parking the car before looking at her. "You only met him yesterday. I know this might possibly be your first relationship but I just don't want you to get hurt." Gina got of the car. Katherine huffed. "I'm not a child." She muttered before getting out.
The two walked in and ordered some ice tea. She half expected Chris to show up again. Of course, he did but Chris ignored her. He looked extremely angry. Gina and her watched him sit down in front of another guy. They talked lowly so no one could hear them. She did see him look at her a few times. The man he was talking to looked beyond terrified. Then she put the pieces together. It was the man that hurt Chris.
"I wonder what he's saying to that poor guy." Gina said and got up to get a refill. "Finishing his deal." Katherine muttered when she left. The frightened man quickly left and rushed out of the shop. A few people looked at the man then at the unknown demon. Ignoring the stares, Chris stood up and walked over to her as if nothing happened. "Are you ok?" He asked the second he sat down in front of her. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She asked in return. He leaned forward just like he did a minute ago.
"That guy I was talking to is the one that tried to kill me." Chris eyes flashed a deep red which she never seen before. This was the angriest he's ever seen him but he was controlling it well. "He was going to try and finish the deal by a massacre starting here." Chris whispered so no one else could hear. Katherine gulped nervously. He gave her a reassuring gentle smile.
"Relax. He has two months of freedom but after that, he has to finish what he started." Chris sat back against the chair. He rested his tattooed hands on the table. "Chris, why don't you just kill him or whatever you do?" She asked. Chris crossed his arms. "I wish I could so badly but that's not how these deals work." Katherine looked who was next to him. Chris had to slightly turn to see what she was looking at. Gina hesitantly walked back up to them. She hoped Gina didn't hear too much of their conversation. Chris gave her a friendly smile.
Katherine inhaled nervously. "Gina, this is Chris." Her friend reluctantly held out her hand. Chris took hers and shook it. "Pleasure to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you." Gina slightly blushed. Katherine was surprised at her reaction. Chris stood up and fixed his suit jacket. "Congratulations on your engagement." He said buttoning up his jacket. Gina looked at Katherine with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, thank you. I know you two just met but you're welcome to join us for the wedding." Gina set her drink down on the table. Chris smiled. "I'd love to." He said before looking at Katherine. Needless to say, both girls were surprised he agreed. "I'm sorry but if you'll excuse me. I have some other personal business to attend to." Chris winked at Katherine. She knew what that meant. "Call me later?" She smiled. He nodded and walked out of the shop.
