"I wish that didn't happen." Katherine said looking up at the ceiling. "Me either but it did." Chris laid down next to her. "Don't you wish you had the power to go back in time?" She asked. "Nope. I wouldn't want to change a thing." He rolled into his stomach.
Katherine sat on his lower back and began massaging his shoulder muscles. "What's with this?" He chuckled. "Why not?" She asked teasingly. She massaged his back until her hands hurt. "That felt good." He said and sat up. "Your turn."
She laid down on her stomach and Chris massaged her shoulders. After a while, Katherine fell asleep. He smiled and kissed up and down her spine a few times. She mumbled a few words.
"Katherine? Christopher?" Her mother yelled somewhere downstairs. Chris lightly kissed her temple and whispered, "I love you." He got off of the bed and walked downstairs. The mother was in the living room reading something off her phone.
"Is something wrong? You sounded upset." Chris said walking in. "Is this true?" She handed the phone to him. Chris read it then reread it again. It was about the incident earlier and it appeared in local news. He sharply exhaled. "Yep. Apparently it is." Her mother put the phone on the slab of gray stone as a coffee table. He crossed his tattooed arms tightly across his chest.
"Well good for you. I've heard those three were nothing but trouble." She said. Chris noticed she was biting her nails nervously. "Is something wrong?" He asked concerned. "No, just thinking. I think a cup of tea will calm my nerves." She said too quickly and rushed to the kitchen. He raised his drawn on eyebrow suspiciously.
Of course, a sense in Chris told him something was bothering her. He sighed heavily then walked casually in the kitchen. "It's about if we ever break up, isn't it?" He asked. She was filling up a pot of water. "And a few other things." She said honestly. Now he was really interested in knowing what those things would be.
"You're worrying too much. We've been together for five years now." Chris seemed a little shocked at realizing how long they've been with each other. "Wow. Five amazing years have flown by." He smiled. The mother stopped the water from the sink, place the pot on the counter, and turned around to face him. "Have you two ever talked about being more than boyfriend and girlfriend?"
Now he knew what was bothering her. "I definitely know she's thought about it." Chris's red eyes glowed brighter. The mother opened her mouth to say something. "I've also thought about it but I need to know something first." Chris had a wide grin on his face as he thought of something.
"What's that?" She asked curiously. "If you completely forgive me after all that shit I've done." He looked down to the countertop. "Christopher, you showed me why you had to. It was part of your curse along with a deal my late husband and you agreed to. You've proven countless times, you'd protect and love her." Chris looked up at her. "I can go and and on but I do forgive you."
Chris had the happiest smile on his face. After all these years, he felt it was finally time to take the next step in their relationship. "Then I can ask her?" The mother returned the smile. "The sooner, the better!" She said merrily. "I know the prefect day." He said happily. She squealed merrily, did a little happy dance, then tightly hugged Chris.
