Katherine made her way up to the third floor. Still out of habit, she knocked three times before entering the room. Chris was writing something in a book. He looked up at her when she sat down then back down to continue writing.
They sat in comfortable silence when Katherine's phone began vibrating in her pocket. She got up and walked out of the room. "Hello?" She asked after checking to see who was calling. "Do you think you can stop by my work right now? There's something important I found out about you-know-who." Her friend said.
"What? Voldemort?" Katherine joked. Her friend didn't laugh. "It's something serious. Get here as soon as you can." Gina said before hanging up. Katherine shrugged it off. It was probably something she already knew.
Katherine stood outside the door and knocked three times again. She opened the door enough where she could look in. "Gina called and said she has something important to tell me. I'll be back in a little bit, ok?" Chris looked at her suspiciously but nodded. She closed the door and went to gather her purse and shoes.
Chris set down the pen and closed the book. He stood up and placed it back on the bookshelf and wasn't surprised the phone started ringing. He sat back down and looked at the caller I'd. Chris growled wishing it wasn't her.
"Hello?" He answered clearly voicing how unenthusiastic he felt. "Well, hello to you too. It's been about five years." A woman's voice replied back. Chris tightened his grip on the phone. The woman giggled. He knew exactly why she was calling.
"About our little deal." She sang song happily. Chris smiled more to himself that she didn't know the deal was broken the day Katherine told him she loved him. He had also discovered when talking to the ruler on their wedding night, the deal was a set up and that she never told the truth. "The deal's off, you lying bitch." He said before hanging up.
Chris slightly chuckled and leaned into his chair. He'd have to start casting protection spells everyday but it was worth it. He's had enough of being alone for three centuries and would do anything to protect his wife and mother-in-law. He got up and grabbed a different book before making his way to one of the rooms to begin spellcasting.
