After a few minutes, Katherine made her way back up to the bedroom. Chris was still asleep and it now felt weird seeing him like that. She decided to take a long bath before crawling into bed. At least she wouldn't be completely alone for the night.

She laid next to Chris and rested her arm across his chest. He didn't feel warm or cold. He wasn't also breathing which didn't surprise Katherine seeing that he's not alive to begin with. She wasn't sure if he could hear but Katherine talked about what happened between the two friends. She sighed heavily when she was done speaking but at least Katherine felt better.

Katherine mostly tossed and turned all night. After a few hours, she managed to finally fall asleep. She woke up a few times, and reached over to feel Chris still next to her. He hadn't moved an inch. She snuggled closer to him then finally fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Katherine noticed something. She felt a familiar weight wrapped around her. Katherine smiled happily. "Chris?" She looked to see the colorful tattooed arm around her. Katherine felt fully awake and excited that he could be finally awake.

A strange sound was next to her. She rolled over to face him. Chris was still asleep. He was either mumbling incoherent words or the language she didn't understand. She quietly chuckles and kissed him. Katherine found it amusing to hear him talking in his sleep. She wondered if he did that when he was alive.

She laid there a few more minutes before finally getting out of bed. Katherine grabbed a thin black robe and went back down to the kitchen. Her mother was at the island counter, reading and sipping on coffee. Her mother looked a lot more calm than last night.

"Good morning, mom." Katherine said. Her mother looked up from the book and smiled. "Morning. Is he still sleeping?" She asked. "Out like a light." Katherine sat down next to her. She rested her hands on the table and strummed her fingers in a random rhythm.

"Shelby told me Gina is officially engaged." Her mother put the book down. "Yeah. Lee finally asked." She tried to sound more enthusiastic about it. "Well you sound thrilled about it." Her mother said sarcastically. Katherine gave a quick smile but it faded.

Katherine sighed heavily. "I've been thinking about mine and Chris's relationship." Her mother looked interested. "You mean like taking the next step?" She asked resting her chin on the palm of her hand and elbow on the surface of the counter. She wanted to hide the smile so this was the best she could come up with.

"Which would be marriage but I don't know if he wants to be or even if he can be." Katherine did the same thing as her mom. "Haven't you two ever talked about it?" Katherine's mother asked. "I have thought about it a year ago." Katherine looked at her left finger imagining a ring on. She had hinted about it by looking at rings and dresses to even briefly talking about it. Chris never said or did anything that told her he was interested so sadly, she gave it up.

"Well what if he does ask?" Her mother asked curious. "Well, how would getting married to a demon work? I mean, you can't waltz into a church and say the "I do's," right?" Katherine sighed. "I'm sure there's a way. You'll just have cross that bridge when you get there." Her mother patted her shoulder encouragingly.

Katherine looked at her mother. "Has he ever talked to you about it?" Her mother smiled and that made Katherine's heart skip a beat. "He did, didn't he?" Katherine smiled widely. "I'm not saying anything." Her mother took the coffee cup and took long sips from it.

The rest of the day, Katherine spent most of her time laying in bed. Occasionally, Chris would say something or stir. Her mother tried to get her daughter to come down and eat something. She mostly wanted to think about the next step in their relationship. Katherine tried to imagine her own perfect wedding along with having a life afterwards. It was wishful thinking and which kept her spirits up.

It did make her slightly jealous that her friend was going to planning soon and then be happily married. Sighing, Katherine rolled over and snuggled up to Chris. "I shouldn't be thinking about something that would never happen." She thought before falling asleep. Chris mumbled an incoherent reply.

Well, Katherine is right that they can't go to a church and get married....so how do you think they will?
