It's been a few weeks and Chris still hasn't woken up. Katherine nearly forgot about the surprise if that still didn't get ruined. She was sure he was going to be furious at himself and whoever screwed up the deal. Katherine was already angry at the person responsible for hurting someone she loved. In the meantime, she worked on budgeting and signing new bands for Vamps Records which was the main thing Chris worked on.
The fight between her and Gina seemed like it would never end. Her friend threatened to look into Chris's family history to find out who he is but Katherine knew she'd only find files that happened three hundred years ago. Her friend still brought up the suspicions of the three murders, the job, and living in his home constantly. Katherine tried everything to make sure Gina didn't investigate. It was honestly driving her mad.
Finally one morning, Katherine rolled over to face Chris and was shocked to find that he wasn't laying in bed next to her. She sat straight up and looked around the room. Nearly jumping out of bed and tripping in the process, Katherine grabbed a dress and quickly got ready.
She rushed downstairs and into the living room. Katherine saw him writing something in a book. He changed to his usual suit and his straight black hair covered his face as he was looking down. Chris looked just like himself again. "Chris?" Katherine asked not believing he was there.
Chris instantly looked up and he smiled. He stood up and she literally ran to him and hugged him tightly. "You're finally up." Her voice was muffled from burying her face into his chest. "I'm sorry. I didn't expect to sleep this long." He pulled slightly away to kiss her.
"Don't be. At least you weren't asleep for five years." Katherine smiled. "How'd it feel?" She asked curious. "Weird." He laughed. "There's apparently so much I have to catch up on." He ran his fingers through his hair, slicking it back.
"Don't worry. I took care of everything at Vamps every morning. I-I even had to come up with a few of my own ideas." Katherine looked slightly nervous. Chris raised his drawn on eyebrow. "Physical album sales have gone up thanks to me." She smiled.
"That was your idea?" Chris looked extremely happy. "Yep. I know how much you love them. I've seen your collection by the way." Chris smiled proudly. "Thank you for doing that." He hugged her tightly. She hummed deep in thought.
"Let's see, what else?" Katherine thought out loud. Chris was about to say something when the doorbell rang. Katherine tensed up. "It's your friend again isn't it?" Chris said unemotionally. She nodded.
"She's been here almost everyday." Katherine said. "I can tell. We need to talk about that." He said seriously. "Chris, you wer-" she was interrupted by the doorbell again. She sighed. "I'll be right back." She quickly rushed out of the room. Chris lowly growled feeling angry that she actually disobeyed him.
Katherine stepped out of the house. "Hi Gina." She said. "Hey. I want to apologize." Gina brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes. Katherine looked surprised. "We've been friends since we were little. You should know by now that I care way too much." Gina began speaking sounding sincere.
Katherine sighed. "I know you do. It's a good thing." She said with a small smile. "And also a bad thing." Gina added before continuing. "How about this? I won't annoy you about it any longer. What say we both go out and have some fun?" Her friend suggested. Katherine really smiled this time.
"I could also use some help planning for the wedding. It might happen sooner than we think." Gina looked a little sad saying that. "Please tell me the military isn't sending Lee overseas so soon?" Katherine asked. Gina nodded.
Katherine then thought about Chris. He just woke up and she wanted to spend time with him. Of course, she knew he was listening in on their conversations with his supernatural hearing. What surprised her was her phone inside her dress pocket vibrated. No surprise who it was.
"Hold on." Katherine took out her phone and read the text message. Chris messaged her telling her to go with her friend. "Um, looks like Mr. Motionless is giving me the day off." Katherine looked at Gina. "That's odd. Just right after I asked you." Gina hummed in thought. "Coincidence, right?" Katherine lightly laughed. "I'm going to get my purse real quick." She said before going back inside. Katherine made sure to quietly lock the door before going upstairs.
Chris was sitting on the bed, waiting for her to walk in. "I was about to tell her maybe another time." Katherine said the second she saw him. "I just finished those reports and looked at everything at Vamps and you've done so much. You deserve a day off." Chris smiled and stood up. He decided to let his anger slid this time. However, Chris made a mental note to remind Katherine not to do it again.
"You're friend is also apologizing and I think turning her down would make her upset." He continued before crossing his arms and looking down. Katherine waited for him to say something. He was thinking about something. Chris looked back up at her and said,"You could tell her about us." That was something she didn't expect him to say.
"I can't now. Not after trying to keep everything a secret. If she finds out you're a demon-" Chris's red eyes glowed brighter. "I know how religious she is. Her family has been that way for a long time." Chris gave a twisted smile. "They've been like that even when I was living and breathing." Katherine looked surprised.
"I'll explain more later. Don't want to keep her waiting any longer, right?" Chris took a step forward and kissed her. "Just tell her. You know she'll find out sooner or later." He whispered in her ear. Katherine sighed and grabbed her purse. "I'll think about it." She kissed him this time before leaving.
