Chapter 47

Katherine groaned painfully. She had a throbbing headache and felt cold. Out of habit, she looked to see where a colorful tattooed arm would be. Katherine sat straight up when she realized she wasn't in her room.

Gina was pacing and biting her nails. Katherine realized the coldness was from laying on the concrete floor. "What happened last night?" She looked around. There was only one lightbulb lighting a small cellar. "We were kidnapped." Gina said hoarsely.

Katherine barely remembered seeing the man's face at the bar. She gasped when the sudden realization and felt a sudden feeling of fear. "What is today?" She asked impatiently. Gina told her the day. Katherine stood up and ran for the door. "Oh no." She kept repeating.

"I've tried unlocking that for who knows how long." Gina said hopelessly. Katherine began pacing the room and pulling in her hair. "This isn't happening." Katherine kept saying. Gina was getting increasingly worried at her friend's behavior.

The door unlocked and opened. Both girls stood next to each other fearfully. "I see someone is finally up." The man said holding a gun at them. "I'm sorry girls, but I have a deal to finally finish." He held up a cellphone. "You each get one call to a loved one to say goodbye." He tossed the device at Katherine. She felt like saying that he was an idiot but kept her mouth shut.

"My family can pay you!" Gina tried not to cry but tears fell down her face. "Nothing you can offer me can change the deal." He said bitterly. "I-I'm going to call my husband." Katherine stuttered. Gina looked at her confused. "No telling him where we are or give away what's going to happen." The man had the gun pointing at her.

Katherine nodded and dialed the phone. After a few rings, he picked up. "Hello?" He said coarsely. It sounded like he's been crying. The memories of last night came back and Katherine began sobbing. "Chris, I'm so sorry. Please I need you."
