"G-Gina. Hi. I-uh." Katherine didn't know what to say. She didn't realize her friend was the one calling her. "So who's Chris?" She asked curiously. Katherine had to think of something quick. She nervously bit her lips trying to think of what to say.
"I've been trying to get a hold of my boss." She somewhat lied. He still was as long as she worked for the record company Vamps. "It surely didn't sound like it." Gina spoke in a singalong tone. "I have some important news to tell him and I haven't been able to get a hold of him since this morning. I'm just getting annoyed." Katherine lied again. Gina hummed in disbelief. Katherine bit her lip hard. She knew her friend could easily tell she was lying even if it was a little.
"Well, I have some news too but I'd like to tell you in person. Do you want to meet me up at Starbucks?" She asked. Katherine looked at the gothic designed wall clock. Her mother mouthed the words for her to go. She sighed quietly and debated. "Sure. I'll meet you there in an hour." Her friend squealed happily then yelled at someone at the other end to say where she was going.
Gina hung up and Katherine decided to try calling Chris. Of course right away, it went to voicemail. She let out a frustrated groan. "He still isn't answering?" Her mother said picking up her book again. "No. He's never been gone this long. What if something happened?" She ran her fingers through her hair furiously. That was the last thing she wanted to find out.
"Who were you talking to on the phone?" Her mother asked to sure who it was. "Gina. I'm going to meet her at Starbucks. Maybe it'll help get my mind off worrying. I think he's alright. I mean, he's a demon so I'm sure not a lot of people know how to hurt something like him." Katherine began pacing again. Her mother watched until she couldn't take it anymore.
"Go and get ready. I'm sure he's fine. If Christopher comes back, I'll let you know." Her mother stood up to rest her hands on her daughter's shoulder and looked at her reassuringly. Katherine slightly smiled. "Thank you." She gave her mother a quick hug before running to her room to get her purse.
