Chapter 16: Learn when to shut up

Hey guys! I published a chapter earlier but I don't think it came up properly! So here's it again! ^^

Third Person POV

(Y/N) stands there. She doesn't know what to think, or what to do. Instead she steps away from Gray and walks away.

So many thoughts are going through her head and in all honesty she's confused. Part of her is happy Gray's her mate. After all she does like him, but... still. This whole Erza business was getting into her mind.

"Hey! (Y/N)!" Gray calls.
"I need to be alone." Is all (Y/N) says, however her small purple exceed follows her.

(Y/N) carries on walking until she's by the canal near Lucy apartment. She gets a buzz on her phone and she answers it.
'You alright?' It was from Natsu.

She ignores it completely. It's not that she doesn't want to reply to Natsu, but she doesn't want to pour her heart out and end up crying more then she should.

"(Y/N)?" Willow asks.
"I'm fine." She replies a little too quickly. Willow knows that she's not okay.
"He told you right? He told you that Erza kissed him. So he's not hiding it from you." Willow says softly.
"Yeah, but... this is Erza... Erza Scarlet, one or the prettiest girls in Fairy Tail."
"And so are you!" Willow says. "I wouldn't be surprised if loads of guys like you!" She says. I smile slightly.
"That's the thing though. . . I don't want loads of guys to like me, I want Gray to like me." She says quietly.
"And I do." A deep similar voice says behind her.

Your POV

I don't need to turn around to know it's Gray. I already know. It's not hard to tell, after all there are plenty of things that give it away, such as his voice, and also the fact that now we're mates I can sense his presence near me.

"Look at me. " He says. I reluctantly turn around and face him.
"Listen Gray, I just want to be alone and think thongs through at the mome-" I was cut off by his lips on mine.

For some reason, however, I wasn't worried about the fact that he had just kissed Erza, instead, now I was happy to have him close to me.

"You need to learn when to shut up." He chuckles. I can't help but smile at that. "(Y/N). I hate the fact that Erza kissed me. I really do, especially now that I know you think I don't like you, because, trust me (Y/N), I do." He paused "Damn. I don't just like you. I love you. And you're the first girl I've ever said that too." He says almost as if he's thinking out loud. I blush slightly at this however.

There's a moment of silence and I look over at him.
"Well that was a cliché."I say. He stared at me with wide eyes and I giggle slightly. "I'm joking, you idiot." I say and hug him. I pull away and he smiles.
"I love you too." He says.

Before I can say anything else We are interrupted.
"So it's a happy ending?" Lucy asks. I laugh slightly.
"It's happy but I very much doubt this is the ending." I grin.
"Far from it." Gray smiles.
"So, (Y/N), we found a job, wanna come Gray?" Natsu asks. Gray chuckles.
"Well yeah, I need to show (Y/N) how to stop you from demolishing things." Gray mutters.
"You don't do a very good job..." Happy says.
"Aye sir!" Lucy giggles.

We all end up laughing and then Lucy smiles.
"Listen we gotta go, we promised Cana we'd drink with her." Lucy says.
"Yeah, but we'll meet you here tomorrow at 12, okay?" Natsu says.
"Sure! See you guys then!" I day. Before we leave Natsu pulls Gray close. I can just about hear what he said.
"You hurt her again, and I won't hesitate to burn you to ashes." He says.

Gray shakes his head then takes hold of my hand and smiles.
"I promise, you won't ever need to." He says. Natsu looks at him unsurely and sighs then walks towards Lucy ' s apartment.

We both turn the oposite way towards Gray's. Both of us are hand in hand and Willow follows behind us happily.
"Hey! (Y/N)! I'm going to tell my precious Lily that I'm going on a job. I'll meet you both at home." She says then fly off toward the guild.

Gray and I are left on our own and there's complete silence, though it's not awkward or anything, it's kind of peaceful to be honest.
"So mates huh?" Gray says five minutes after Willow left us.
"Yep!" I say.
"What does that even mean - I get what it means but I- I don't have a clue." He sighs. I laugh slightly and roll my eyes.
"Basically we're soul mates." I smile.
"And who decide on these mate things?" He asks.

I go quiet then look at him with all seriousness.
"I don't know... not exactly. But there are theories that our dragon's chose them for us." I whisper.
"Wait?! What?! How?! I though-"
"It's just a theory among some dragon slayers." I laugh slightly "There's no way to know for certain." I say "It's a nice thought though." I mutter.
"Yeah... but I'm confused, why did mating season come early for you and why aren't you all psycho dragon rage?" He asked.

I laugh at his explanation and look at him.
"It comes early for certain people if they need their mates for whatever reason, like before the date of the actual mating season. And the reason I'm not is because everything starts next week." I say.

He looks at me worriedly.
"Don't worry, it shouldn't be too bad." I laugh although I'm not too sure. "I'll just get protective over you." I smile.
"It's my job to protect you, moron!" He says. I roll my eyes and punch his arm.

We get back home and Gray and I basically fall asleep watching comedy on the sofa.

I think even then I knew things were too quiet. And I didn't know why my mating season came early, but I wasn't expecting anything like what was going happened.
