Making up, verb.
To get together with another person with whom you're at odds with, and say hey, let's not worry about that one thing we can't agree on. Doesn't really work when later, the other person decides to have a fight about that same thing all over again.
Chapter thirty: Our Kind of Celebration
It was raining by the time we got back to the Sidemen house, and I was glad that one, it hadn't rained on our game, and two, we'd opted to go home rather than go out. We decided to play a mini tournament of Super Smash Bros in the living room, and I noticed Lachlan had really began to relax around the other guys. He and Josh, of all people, seemed to get along the best, which to me was a good sign he was learning to forget and forgive. With the exception of Simon himself, Josh was the one my brother had been the most annoyed at, so their unexpected friendship gave me some hope.
I was pretty tired after our game, and I lay on the couch next to Simon, lazily watching the other guys play, and absently joining and un-joining our hands. I ended up falling asleep, and didn't awake until much later. Simon guiltily lowered his phone, and I realised with a smile he'd been taking photos of me sleeping in his arms.
"You stalker," I murmured, digging him in the ribs, which hardly affected him since he wasn't ticklish in the slightest.
"You're too cute," he grinned.
"Oi, one v one me bro," I giggled lazily. "Imma super smash you into the middle of next week."
"You slept for too long," chuckled Simon. "They're playing FIFA now."
"Oh well, let's go on that then," I said, sitting up. "You were calling me Ronaldo earlier, remember?"
"Yeah," said Simon, "But you must be the only person who's better at real life football than you are at FIFA."
"There's also Ronaldo himself, I guess," I giggled, "I bet he's never played the FIFA game in his life."
"Oh right," he laughed. "It's probably beneath his dignity."
We took the controllers, since the others had now finished their game, and began to play with Madrid vs Barcelona. Simon, of course, won, and he was very pleased with himself.
"Since we're on a Ronaldo theme here, I think your ego is bigger than his," I giggled.
"I wanna verse Jordy now," said JJ. He took the controller off Simon, and we began to play again. We became so engrossed in the game, that I didn't notice both Simon and Lachlan leave the room until we'd finished playing. As I laid my controller down, I glanced around to see only Josh was left watching Jide and I play. Josh met my eyes, and he looked semi-concerned.
"They're talking," he said quietly.
"Oh," I said emotionlessly, not knowing what to think. After a moment, I decided to go and find them. If they'd finally made up, they wouldn't mind me joining the party. And if they were still fighting over me, I wanted to adjudicate.
I found the two of them in the kitchen, talking together.
"Jordyn," stated Lachlan, as I entered. He looked angry, which immediately told me they hadn't made up.
"Can't you two learn to get on?" I complained. Simon sighed.
"Well, at least I tried. I don't want to dislike you Lachlan, but you make it very hard to me not to."
"How can I when you've–" began Lachlan, but Simon cut him off.
"No, I'm done here. Let me know when you've forgiven me for doing nothing." I watched as he walked to the door, and turned to look at me sadly, before passing through it, and closing it behind him. His eyes were a dull colour, and all the life was drained from them. I'd never seen him like that before. I turned to my brother.
"What did you do?" I demanded of him.
"Please tell me this is not a repeat of Gamescom," he stated. At his words, so many things entered my head that I had trouble deciding which one to put into words. Eventually, indignation predominated.
"Okay, one, Simon is nothing like Joe, anyone with half a brain can see that, and two, I thought we buried Gamescom in the dead past? You keep saying you're sorry, and you'll leave me to make my own decisions, and then nothing changes, Lachlan! Do you even mean what you say anymore?"
"I just don't like the way he thinks he can do whatever the hell he likes with you," said Lachlan. "That's exactly what Joe did, and I'm just scared its gonna happen again!"
"He doesn't think that," I stated. "Lachlan, we've spent every day for the past four months together, he's even told me he likes me, but he still hasn't even kissed me because he's afraid of what my idiot of a brother will do if he does! He knows I still value you, Lachlan. I used to put you before everyone. We were so close, we were basically sibling goals. But I can't place any value on your opinions anymore if you try and force feed them to me." I sighed. "You better work out if you want both me and Simon in your life, or neither of us. Those are your options." Lachlan stood staring at me after my outburst. He of all people knew I didn't normally overflow with emotions like that.
"Is that really how you feel?" He said at last. I nodded, wordlessly. "Okay," he said. He then turned on his heel, and left the room abruptly.
"Okay?!" I asked the kitchen, indignantly. "Is that all the response I get?" The kitchen apparently had no comment to make. I needed to clear my head, so I headed out the back door, and into the open air, leaving the kitchen sighing in relief, thankful to be rid of it's emotional occupants.
A/N: you'd all be very ashamed of me if I told you how close I came to adding "gone wrong in the hood" on the end of this chapter's title. I thought it would kinda ruin the mood a bit, so decided against it lol
Next chapter may or may not be very important... And it might not be up til tomorrow. Not sure at this stage haha :P
