Chapter 21: Gifts
"Okay, kids, it's time to open the presents!" mom yelled.
"Yay!" they cheered.
"But remember that they're for Jarrett."
"Aww..." they booed.
"Alright, come here, Jar!" called out mom as she beckoned me to a chair decorated with glitter and stickers.
I sat down.
The first gift was from Addison.
I ripped open the pink wrapping paper. It was a Hulk action figure.
"Gee, thanks, Addy," I smiled.
If only I like the Hulk.
Or know him, for that matter.
The next one was from Harper.
I opened the stapled paper bag.
"A shirt?" I questioned.
"Yeah, don't you like it?" she pouted, disappointed.
"Oh, I do!" I immediately exclaimed with a smile.
She brightened up. "Yay! Unfold the shirt!"
I hesitantly obliged.
The shirt wrote, Happy 10th birthday Jarrett! Love, Harper
"Nice," I commented flatly.
"I knew you'd like it," she said, giggling.
I opened the other gifts one by one.
And you know what? No gift from Robin.
