Chapter 51: Ah~ Memories
"I'ma go look for Robin." said Detective Jane.
"Um... Detective Jane, by any chance, can I go with you?" I asked.
"Um... Okay, I guess. I'll need all the help I can get." she said. "And please, just call me Jane."
***
As Jane and I walked down the streets of Manhattan, I thought about all the possible places Robin could be at.
"Oh, I got one..."
Then I whispered Robin's possible location to Jane.
"Alright, let's give that a try."
***
"Well... Here we are." said Jane as I stepped out of her car.
"The playground me and Robin used to go to all the time." I finished.
Then I thought of all the great memories me and Robin had...
~~ Flashback ~~
"I bet you can't fit in that baby swing." said Robin smiling smugly at me.
"No way am I taking you on on that bet." I said, crossing my arms and chuckling at how childish Robin is.
"PLEASE!!!" she yelled, jumping up and down.
I laughed as all the other kids and their parents stared at us.
Then she stopped jumping, and smirked.
"I'll buy you a sandwich." she said with a wide grin on her face.
Damn it! She knows my weakness!
"Hmm... What kind of sandwich?" I interrogated.
"I don't know... A meatball sub?"
Damn it!
"Fine." I groaned. "But the meatballs better be good."
"Yeah."
"Oh and with mayo!"
"Yeah."
"And ketchup?"
"Just get in the damn baby swing!"
I grabbed the chains that hung the baby swing and slowly slid my legs into the holes. Except for the fact that I didn't fit...
"Ha ha, I win, you loose!" Robin boasted upon seeing me not fitting.
I rolled my eyes. "Bet's not over." I said. "Come on."
Them I grabbed her arm and dragged her towards the supermarket nearby.
"Um, where are we going?" she asked.
"Supermarket."
"Why?"
"I need butter."
~ a couple minutes later ~
"So now you're buttering up your legs just to fit into a baby swing for a sandwich. A sandwich." narrated Robin.
"Yep."
I put down the butter and, once again, grabbed the chains and slid my legs into the holes.
And...
It worked!
"Ha! You now owe me a sandwich!" I yelled as Robin rolled her eyes.
"Okay, fine." she said. "Now come on, I'ma buy your stupid sandwich now."
"Why now?" I asked.
"I lose. This feeling sucks. I wanna get it over with so let's go."
"Oh true."
I grabbed a hold of the chains and pulled myself up.
...
...
...
"Um... Robin?"
"Yeah?" she said, tapping her foot repeatedly on the ground.
"I'm stuck."
She burst out laughing.
"You're... stuck?!" she laughed.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm stuck in a baby swing, very funny. Now help me!"
"It's hilarious!" she laughed.
"Just... help me!"
"Man, if this is how you always feel when you lose, I should lose more often!" she chuckled as she made her way behind the swing.
I rolled my eyes. "Are you finally helping me?" I asked.
"Yep!"
Then I felt a pair of hands on my back and she started pushing me.
"Wheeeeeeeeeee!" she squealed.
"Hey! Stop that!"
***
And let's just say, mom and dad had to cut the baby swing from the chains and I was the idiot wearing a baby swing for a week.
