Chapter 9: The Perfect Outfit
I combed my bangs to the side and stared at my reflection in the vanity.
Yes, I know. A guy owning a vanity? Ridiculous.
Then I realized something... I had green eyes. Green eyes!
I ran down to mommy.
"Mommy! Mommy!" I called out.
She emerged from the kitchen holding a butter knife with peanut butter on it.
"What wrong, sweetie?!" she panicked.
"I have green eyes!"
She immediately calmed down. "Oh. Okay, then." she said, going back in the kitchen.
I gave her a confused look. "Why aren't you excited, mommy?"
"You just scared me for a minute, kiddo."
"Okay, fine." I said as I sat on top of the kitchen counter.
"Excited for the first day of school, buddy?" asked mom as she crammed a PB & J sandwich into a plastic container.
"Sure am!" I replied enthusiastically. "But I can't figure out what to wear... the red or the blue shirt?"
Mom looked at me and smiled. "Why are you working so hard just to find a perfect outfit?" she questioned.
I chose to ignore her ridiculous question and just continue with what I was saying.
"So I like the red one because it's so cool because of the picture of the spaceship on it. But on the other hand, people might think it's girly because red is a girly color."
Mom sighed. "Says who? Just wear what you like. Okay?"
I rolled my eyes.
Clearly mom doesn't get what school's (probably) like.
"Okay."
Definitely the red one.
