Chapter 44: Back To Where We Started (Or So We Thought)
I stood up and walked out the door.
I sneaked a peek at Robin.
She just sat there, hands on the rope, legs crossed and slowly pushing her.
I immediately ran up to her.
She was so shocked, she nealy fell off.
"I... um... have to... uh... go do something." she mumbled as she stood up from the swing to run away.
I quickly grabbed her arm.
"Robin, look at me!" I said, spinning her around to face me. "It's been a year since that kiss. Are you seriously just gonna ignore me for another year?"
She avoided my gaze and stayed silent.
"Look, I know we haven't talked in a while. I mean, I always tried talking to you, you just always managed to avoid me." I said. "But, come on Robin! We're supposed to be best friends! You can't blame me for kissing you! I just... had to do it... Are you mad?"
She finally looked up and met my gaze. "I'm not mad at you..." she sighed. "I just... was afraid that if we got together then break up, I'd loose my best friend forever... And I couldn't take that risk..."
I frowned. "What makes you think we're gonna break up?"
"I- Um... N-nothing..." she stuttered.
"I'm sorry... I just... always wanted to kiss you. I mean, you're great! You know?"
She nervously chuckled. "It's okay."
I sighed and let go of her arm.
I turned around and muttered "bye" to Robin.
Great. It's gonna be awkward between us now.
Then I heard her say behind me, "I love my best friend. He's so fucking awesome."
I smiled to myself.
I'm fucking awesome. I thought.
Then a pair of arms spun me around and she pressed her lips onto mine.
"I'm sorry, I had to do it." Robin breathed out.
