Chapter 29: Lunch Theories
"Let's go grab some lunch, Jar." said Cole as he swung his arm over my shoulder.
"We need to wait for Luke." I said.
Over the years, the 3 of us has became best friends.
"Ugh." he groaned. "Cut me some slack, bro, I'm starving."
"Nope." I said, trying to hold back a laugh. "Friends before food."
"Fine." he grumbled.
"Hey guys!" yelled Luke as he ran across the hallway.
He caught up to us and said, "I am so sorry for being late."
"It's fine." I assured him.
"It is so not fine." said Cole, crossing his arms. "I was slowly dying of starvation while this wuss just insisted we wait for you."
Luke rolled his eyes and faced me. "Thank you, wuss." he joked.
"Shut up."
"Now let's go."

The 3 of us sat in our regular lunch table. You might think, Why don't you eat with Robin?
Well, it isn't my fault. Ever since 4th grade she started eating lunch with Avery and Lacey.
We kinda grew apart in our school life. But we're still best friends.
"Psst." whispered Luke.
"Why are you whispering?" I asked.
"Check out Robin." he said, pointing to the table Robin and her friends were sitting at.
"There's a guy at her table." said Cole.
Luke smirked as he elbowed me. "She's having lunch with Bryan Sanders. Ya jealous?"
"No." I scoffed.
Cole laughed. "You sure? Playboy of the school, having lunch with your girlfriend."
"Okay, first of all, she's not my girlfriend. Second, he's not that great. And third, it's not like it's a date! I mean, Avery and Lacey are sitting right there." I said, proving my point.
"Speaking of which, have you guys noticed Lacey? She's so pretty." said Cole, staring at Lacey.
"What? Are you serious?" I reacted.
"Lacey? Really?" laughed Luke. "What about Avery? She's both pretty and nice."
"Are you serious?" I reacted.
"Yes." they said together.
"You guys like my best friend's best friends?" I asked to make sure I understood what was happening.
"Yes." they said together.
"Woah."
Bbbbrrrrriiiiinnnnggggg!!
"Oh crap, we're gonna be late." I said, glancing at my watch.
"Oh would you relax?" said Luke.
"I'm leaving." I said as I dashed off to the hallways to my class.
I went in. Thank God, teach isn't there yet. So I sat down in my regular seat.
"Hey Jarrett." greeted Harper.
"Hey." I greeted back.
"I don't have a partner for Mrs. Albright's math class yet. So with that in mind, will you-"
Before she could finish what she was saying, Mrs. Albright came in.
"Take your seats everyone!" she said.
Which caused Harper to scurry back to her seat.
Then Mrs. Albright started to discuss our lesson for today.
Calculus? Yawn.
"Psst." whispered Bailey, the girl who sits next to me.
"What?" I whispered back.
Then she passed me a note.
"Passing notes. Real mature." I said, rolling my eyes.
I looked at the note. On the outside was my name, written in beautiful penmanship. Jarrett. And in the inside said:
I wasn't really able to ask you my question earlier. So here is it: Do you wanna be my partner?
- Harper
I wrote yes below the question and passed it back.
When she read it, she smiled at me. I smiled back.
Bailey looked at me and smirked. "Ooh! You're cheating on Robin!" she whisper-yelled.
"No I'm not."
"So you don't mind if I tell Robin?"
I thought about it. Then I remembered lunch. "Be my guest."
