Chapter 55: The Ugly Truth

We pulled away for a second...

"Am I forgiven...?" I asked Robin, still smiling from that amazing kiss we shared.

She smiled as our noses touched. "Of course, stupid."

I brushed her soft hair with my fingers.

"Hey Robin?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

Her smile disappeared. And was replaced with a shocked look on her face.

...But then her smile returned...

"Hey Jarrett?"

"Yeah?"

"I-"

"Hey Jarrett!" someone screamed from behind me.

Robin immediately pulled away from our perfect fit position and had a horrid expression on her face.

I turned around only to see Harper holding a pink umbrella wearing a red, slutty, cocktail dress.

"I'm just gonna forget that I ever saw anything right now." she said, rolling her eyes and gesturing to me and Robin.

I turned to Robin. Her eyes were filled with tears. She tried to blink them away but they just flowed down her cheek.

"Aw... Poor little Robin gonna cry?" mused Harper. She laughed aloud. "I'm sorry but aren't supposed to be somewhere in Mississippi right now?"

Robin wiped away her tears and said in monotone, "Oh yeah, I forgot."

Then she ran back into the house, slamming the door behind her.

"What the fuck, Harper?!" I scolded. "Wha... How..."

She skipped her way to me and caressed my chest. "No stuttering..." she said, starting at my chest.

I just wanna... wanna... punch her right now! Robin was just about to say she loves me!

"Now come on... We're gonna be late for prom..." she said, smiling smugly.

"How the fuck did you know she was going to Mississippi?!" I yelled.

She had a startled look on her face.

"Um, Jarrett, sweetie..." she cooed. "I really don't think this obsession is healthy..."

"Just tell me!" I snapped.

"Geez, just chill, bro." she said, rolling her eyes. "I knew because it was my idea."

"What?!" I yelled.
