Chapter 54: 13 Minutes
There she is.
She's actually here. Seated on that old swing. Reading a book.
She glanced up from the book she was reading, not even showing a bit appreciation for me showing up.
She rolled her eyes and looked back down onto her book.
I walked towards her.
"John Green, isn't it?" I asked slightly chucking.
She looked up with a blank face and said, "Yeah, what's so funny about that?"
I cleared my throat. "Um, nothing."
She just rolled her eyes and stared back down on her book.
It's like she isn't even reading!
I glanced at my watch.
4:13
"Um... I'm 13 minutes late..." I muttered.
WTF, Jarrett! You're making things worse!
"I know." she mumbled.
...
...
...
Wait. What was that?
"You stayed an extra 13 minutes for me?" I said with a grin on my face.
"I don't see what's the big deal." she shrugged.
I smiled. "You stayed for me." I said. "Your note read you're leaving at 4pm. Sharp."
"So?"
"Oh my gosh, you are so in denial right now!" I mused.
Then a drop of rain fell onto my hand.
... followed by a shitload of rain drops.
"Fuck." I mumbled.
"Bad day to run away, huh?" I joked, trying to lighten up her mood.
She closed the book, stood up, left the book on the swing, and grabbed something from under the swing.
It was a blue umbrella.
She walked over to me. Then she opened the umbrella.
I caught her stealing a glance from me.
Wait...
"This is my umbrella!" I said.
"You left it at my house years ago." she said, staring at the grass.
I found myself smiling at the thought that she kept it all these years.
I held over the Robin's hand that she used to hold the umbrella over us.
She looked up and met my gaze.
"It's been a while since I've stared into those crystal blue eyes of yours." I said with a smile.
"I waited an extra 13 minutes... That's how long you owe me." she said.
"Don't worry, I'll make up for it." I said with a wide grin stretched across my face.
"How?"
Then I just leaned in and kissed that girl.
