Chapter 47: Harper
"Hey Jarrett!" squealed Harper as she ran and hugged me.
I got out of her arms.
"What're you doing here?" interrogated Robin as she glared at Harper.
"Oh I-" said Harper before she lay her eyes on Robin's.
Harper's smile immediately disappeared and turned into a scowl.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Harper growled.
"I live here, bitch."
"So do I."
Robin burst into laughter. "Yeah... right...! Good... one...!"
Harper smirked. "No, I really do! I'm your new neighbor." she announced.
Robin froze.
"That's right! I live next to Jarrett now! And if you're nice, I might not steal him from you too!" Harper sneered.
Robin took a step back. Tears started to stream down her cheek.
"Woah, Robin, what's wrong?" I asked, genuinely concerned.
"I... I..." she stuttered before turning her back and running away.
"What was that?" I asked Harper, angrily.
She batted her eyelashes all innocent like and said, "I dunno what your talking about."
I glared at her and then ran after Robin.
I found her seated on the swing, staring down at her feet. Her brunette hair covered her face.
"Robin, are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." she lied as her voice started to break.
"I know you're not. Now tell me what's wrong."
She slowly looked up and then stared back down.
"Remember back when I told you about the transfer student who stole my best friends?" said Robin.
"Yes..."
"Well... The transfer student was Harper. She stole Madison and Addison away from me."
"Wha...?"
"And..." Then her voice completely broke. "I'm afraid she'll steal you from me too..."
I started to get a little teary eyed.
"Robin, you know that'll never happen..."
"How are you so sure?! I mean, we haven't exactly had the perfect friendship in the last year! Who says she can't steal you from me too?! Who says that you won't get sick of me?! Who says that it'll ever be the same between us again?! Who says?!"
I took a step back.
"I... I'm sorry... I just need some time to think..." she apologized before she disappeared into her house.
