"Have fun today!" Lauren said as I headed for the door already dressed in my work clothes.
She was off today and for the rest of the week using her overtime hours for paid vacation days.
"I hate you so much." I mumbled under my breathe opening the front door.
"Love you too bestie." She said before I walked out the door to my car and drove off to hell. I looked at my phone seeing that the time was nine o'clock on the dot. I was nearly a half hour late for work due to the fact that I took forty-five minutes for my makeup, twenty to fill up all of Trent's bottles and explain to Lauren how to take care of him when I was gone and on top of that, Trent kept me up all night crying so I overslept. The poor thing's coming down with a fever and I would prefer to stay home with him a little more until he gets better, but I had no choice.
I tried not to worry about that and relaxed turning up the radio where Drake's "Too Good" ft. Rihanna was playing. Everyone can say that their favorite song off of Views is Controlla or One Dance, but Too Good is hands down one of the best.
Once I pulled up to my job I rushed up the elevator just to clock in.
"You must be Jailee." A male voice said."I'm your new boss."
"Well hi Mr..." I said waiting for him to fill in the blank.
"My name isn't important right now. What's really important right now, is there a reason why you're nearly an hour late."
"My two month old is sick at home so he drove me crazy last night and I overslept." I explained.
"Well, I don't know if you're aware but we have a new no tolerance policy and
I don't tolerate tardiness.""I'm sorry. It won't happen again, usually I'm never late."
"Well, according to the no tolerance policy we have no tolerance with being late, so I'm afraid that you've been laid off. Please have your office cleaned out my the end of the work week. Thank you." He said starting to walk off.
"You can't be serious." I said causing him to turn around.
"Oh, but I am."
"You just don't understand. I have a infant son that I need to take care of and we don't even have our own place to stay."
"You just don't understand either. Your personal issues are none of my concern and you have been fired so please get out my sight."
Would I be wrong the punch the shit out of this man right now? Some people are just so lucky that I'm such a humble person.
As I went downstairs using the elevator I texted Michael explaining the whole situation. He said he would pick me up in about ten minues. I would just have Lauren or someone drop me off here tomorrow so I could clean out my office and take my car back home.
I wasn't trying to lead Michael on anymore though. Then only reason why I called him was because I needed to meet him anyway to set the records straight and make sure that he's aware of the fact that I don't want him as anything more than a friend.
In the meantime, I dialed my father's number and after a few rings surprisingly, he picked up the phone.
"Hey daddy." I answered.
"Hello Jailee." He responded.
I knew we still weren't on good terms. Usually, he would call me something like sweetheart or babygirl on the phone.
"You won't believe what just happened to me, I'm just..." I said taking a deep breathe trying to calm my nerves. "Very annoyed and upset." I continued.
"What happened?"
"Well, at the office we have a new boss and this morning I was about forty-five minutes late only because Trent had a high fever and he's talking about some type of no tolerance policy."
"I'm afraid you're on your own Jailee."
"Uhm, what? I don't think I heard you correctly."
"This is all on you. If you would've listened to me you never would've had a child and you still would have had your job. Point. Blank. Period. Jailee."
"I can't believe you would say that about your own grandchild! I can't believe that you would even let me be unemployed with no money to support your daughters child when you have complete control over all of that! I really can't believe you're still stuck on something that happened almost two years ago! Get over it! I'm grown! I'm my own person! And you have some nerve to tell me how I should live my life when you weren't even there for half of it! I don't care how fucked up this'll sound, but it's true. You're nothing but a piece of shit for a father!"
I was so angry that I hung up the phone no caring how he felt about my words. I've been holding all those emotions inside and finally saying those things felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I sat there for a second with my palms to my head until Michael pulled up and I got in his car.
"You talked to your father?" He asked.
"Yeah.. And it didn't go well. At all. But I really don't wanna get into that right now."
"That's fine, I understand." He replied. "So where you wanna go?"
"Just take me to Lauren's."
"I don't think she's home. I talked to her a little while and she said she took your son to the park and I know Devvon's working right now."
"It's fine, I have a key."
"Aight." He replied as he drove off.
A heated argument with my father, and now I have to break Michael's heart? Could this day get any worse?
