EliciaHyder is an account that hosts multiples genres, from Paranormal to Non-Fiction. She has books published on Amazon, a Watty under her belt and she currently has 15 thousand followers! I was thrilled to interview her and this is what she answered!
What did it feel like when you hit 1 million reads for the first time?
Hitting a million reads was nice, but honestly, I was just as excited to hit a thousand, ten thousand, and a hundred thousand. It still amazes me every day how much people enjoy my ramblings. Each read is truly an honour.
Your guide 'How to Write Fiction' has helped hundreds of new writers, how does it feel to know you're helping and inspiring so many new people to write?
Helping other writers, particularly younger writers, is the main reason I'm still on Wattpad. I wish someone had encouraged me and helped me perfect my writing skills when I was still in high school. Had that happened, I might have started publishing years ago!
What's been your favourite book to write?
I LOVE 'The Soul Summoner' books, but my favourite will always be 'The Bed She Made'. It reflects a lot from my actual life, particularly on Journey's 'journey' of growing up and reconciling with her family. It appeals to a lot of different readers too. It's really the perfect book for imperfect people, and it has so much HOPE in it for those of us still trying to figure out our place in the world.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
All my inspiration comes from questions. What if I had chosen the bad boy instead of the good guy? What is those 'coincidences' aren't really coincidences at all? What would my daughter's life be like if I died from cancer? All those questions have spawned into stories I've currently published or will publish soon.
How did it feel winning a Watty?
It was a big honour, and it was totally unexpected. I still often feel like a nobody on Wattpad, so it was a huge surprise to be given an award!
Your account hosts books from all sorts of genres, from ChickLit to Paranormal. What books can we expect from you next?
I'm still writing 'The Soul Summoner' series, but I'm also writing a new series about Roller Derby!
And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?
Keep writing. Keep perfecting your craft. Read a LOT (on and off Wattpad). And always be kind to others... the writing world is a pretty small place, and what goes around, comes around. 😀
