Sarah_Toussaint is an account home to some well loved Romance novels. She has written books such as 'Once in the Romantic' which has 464k reads and 'My Secret Lover' which has 7.96 million reads! It was great to interview her and this is what she had to say!

Why did you start writing on Wattpad?

I started writing when I realised that people will actually get to read my shit. Because for the longest time, I've had countless words written on pen and paper in a number of notebooks and no one was any the wiser and I didn't have to think about how it would feel to have people actually read what I wrote. I joined Wattpad for that very reason.

How did it feel to hit 1 million reads for the first time?

I actually don't recall. Back when I joined Wattpad... The number of reads on books wasn't something most writers and readers noticed that much, it was all about interacting with your readers and comments readers made on books were most important here.

But now, since everyone on Wattpad, including Wattpad themselves have sold out, the only thing we care about is getting that number of 'reads' up even though the comment section is empty.

How did you come up with the idea for 'The Exclusively Sizzling Book Club'?

I came up with the BookClub because I'm generally a person who is always up for supporting the underdog. I notice that on Wattpad, the underdog is mature writers. They get the shorter end of the stick because Wattpad hides their books and doesn't even dream of putting them on featured lists, let alone giving them their own little category. So that club was my way of helping my fellow mature writers.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Wow. That's a loaded question. Because everything... Or should I say anything can inspire me.

What's your favourite part about writing on Wattpad?

I don't have a fav part anymore because I'm now done with Wattpad and I'm actually thinking of deleting my account once I'm done transferring all my junk somewhere else. But my fav part used to be the fact that Wattpad made the priorities about the actual writers on this site/app, and not trying to level up and sell out. I kind of hate Wattpad now, to be honest.

Who are your writing inspirations?

Wow. I have so many at the moment. Many writers inspire me because when they write a book, I read it and get completely blown away. I especially love supporting indie writers who are all the most inspirational of all. They get self-published and their books are magnificent. I splurge on them all the time!

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

Hello. If you are a new writer who's joining Wattpad right now, just know that you have to try super hard to get noticed because Wattpad doesn't care about you, you have to care about yourself.

Message everyone who supports you, reply to every comment and make sure to thank your readers. That's what I do. And I will continue to do it even when I'm off Wattpad.
