MayGarner is an amazing writer on Wattpad, and has written books such as 'Alone' which has 441k reads and 'Zodiac Signs' which has 46k reads. It was lovely to interview them and here is what they had to say!

Why did you start writing on Wattpad?

Originally, I started writing on Wattpad to cast my love for the show The Walking Dead. At the time, there weren't many stories for the show and I wanted to show my passion for both the show and for writing. I also wanted to find others who held the same passion as myself, and practice my creative writing skills.

What's been your proudest moment on Wattpad?

My proudest moment, I believe, was either hitting 1k followers, or hitting 100k reads. Those both showed me that there were others out in the world that enjoyed what I was doing and spending so many hours doing so. The support and love felt amazing, and still does today. The overwhelming amount of it!

How did it feel to hit 100k reads for the first time?

It was complete craziness! I'm being cliche when saying this, but I never, in a million years, expected to reach such a high number of reads, let alone, the lovely amount I am at now. 100k reads showed me that I was not alone with my passion, with my feelings, and with my writing. It's crazy how people you've never met before in real life can make such a difference. How much happiness and support they can bring. I wouldn't have it any other way!

What's the hardest part about writing on Wattpad?

I would say dealing with hate and updating would be two of the hardest. I cannot choose between those two. Dealing with others destructive opinions on my writing, characters, plot, and such was and still is hard to deal with, but after a couple of years, it's no bother. Then keeping a regular updating schedule and still dealing with my own life can get quite hectic. But over all, I've been able to push through it all!

Are you planning on writing anymore books in the future?

Definitely! I actually have 10 or so drafts of potential stories that are just waiting to be published for everyone! I'm almost too impatient for my own good to get started on them haha!

Which book has been the most fun to write?

I would have to say Alone, just because of the uproar of support and love for it. Personally, I find it fun to write a book you know others are going to comment on and tell you how much it's either helping them, or bringing them happiness. Alone does that for many people, and I think that's why I enjoy it so much! I love making others happy, and knowing I have some way in this big ole world to bring a smile to someone's face, just for a few seconds.

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

Follow others. Make friends. Connect with other people on here in whatever way you can. I think it is one of the reasons why some of my books and my account overall has gotten to where it is, is by connecting with others. Follow others that love the same fandom, band, or people. Pm them, write on their message boards, show yourself, and make friends! It makes life on Wattpad and writing on Wattpad much easier and much more fun!
