Nico_Solace is an account home to some amazing books, for example 'The Art Of Keeping Cool' which has 38.5k reads and 'SolAngelo' which has 70.5k reads. It was great to interview them!

Why did you start writing on Wattpad?

I started writing on Wattpad because I wanted to prove to everyone else that I could do more with my writing than they thought. I grew up hearing that I was a really good essay writer and non fiction writer, but I just couldn't write fiction; "it's just not your thing" is something my dad said to me a lot. I started writing on here because it was an easy way to get my writing ideas out onto something and also prove to all those people that I could do it. I didn't expect to get as popular as I am on here and I think it's really cool that people enjoy my writing. I just started it to prove a point.

How did it feel to hit 1k for the first time?

When I hit 1k, I kinda freaked out. I like almost screamed. It was almost midnight and I was out of the country, sleeping in a room full of 8 other girls. I couldn't believe I had gotten to 1k and just sporadically kept checking my Wattpad to see if it was actually real. I was in awe, really.

Who are your biggest writing inspirations?

My biggest writing inspirations are Rick Riordan of course, John Green, and a fellow Fanfiction writer who goes by jmcats. He writes on Tumblr and AO3 and I love all of his works.

What is the best part about writing on Wattpad?

My favourite thing about writing in here is the reactions of my readers. I love putting out a new chapter and reading all their comments and their responses. It's what keeps me writing when I don't feel like I should.

Which book has been the most fun to write?

My favourite book I've written on here is called 'The Art Of Keeping Cool'. It's a high school AU that I just thought of on a whim one day and decided to go for. I had a lot of fun throwing in curve balls and changes to it and watching the readers' responses. I'll definitely miss writing it.

And finally, what advice would you give to a new writer on Wattpad?

My advice for any new writers in general is to just have fun. Keep in mind that you're not writing for anyone else. You're writing for you and it's supposed to be a fun way to express yourself. Don't let anyone pressure you into writing more on the story or adding anything you don't want. Don't cater your story to anyone because you're writing it for you; writers don't write for the reader, they share it with the reader.
