*inspired by the Adele song also called Someone Like You.*
Phil Lester never forgot the bittersweet romance between him and Dan when he was 22 and when Dan was 18.
They were young and reckless back then, and as most relationships do, they inevitably broke up.
It wasn't out of bad blood. It was on mutual terms and they were in understanding. The main reason they broke up is because they knew people wouldn't accept their relationship.
But times were different now. People were more accepting these days. They could work.
Phil still loved Dan with all his heart. But Phil had heard through the grapevine that Dan was getting married.
He was happy for him. He really was. But he couldn't help but to think about what could've been.
He showed up to the wedding in a nice tux, and although he wasn't invited, he was welcomed with open arms. Dan and him had exchanged eye contact across the room. Dan's smile faltered for a second. Just a second, but Phil saw.
The smile quickly twitched back to it's previous shape, and Dan looked away from him.
That's all Phil was to Dan now: A glance. Only for a second. A memory shared between them that acknowledged their past, and that's all Phil could hope for.
He couldn't just get in the way of Dan's happiness, so he was letting Dan go, like he should've years ago.
When the vows are sealed with a kiss between Dan and his (now) wife, Phil smiled a smile of bitter acceptance. He left the wedding after that. He had no other purpose to be at the wedding.
He left the wedding, knowing that Dan is happy, and that's all he could ask for. Now he just has to find his own happiness in the form of another.

Frankly, I'm surprised that I even wrote something serious. I hope this conveyed some emotions. I don't know, I don't like this oneshot that much, but it's ok. Practice makes perfect.
