Dan was unfortunately getting used to waiting late for Phil to come home. Phil just always had something to do, it seemed.

And he wouldn't get home until at least past midnight. Dan would normally still be up by then, but he hated that Phil was gone for that long.

Dan couldn't help but suspect the worst. He normally would dismiss it but, when they cuddle after Phil gets home, Phil always smells like perfume...

The smell of the vanilla perfume would almost choke him, reminding him that Phil isn't who he says he is. He's not doing what he says he is.

Phil is cheating on him, and Dan, the poor lovestruck boy, can't do anything about it. Dan is too in love to ask Phil to leave, so he just wallows in his own self-pity, wondering why he wasn't good enough.

As time went on, Phil just got lazier with hiding it. Sometimes he'd make it home with bruises decorating his pale neck. Hickies.

Phil just didn't care enough to make himself look decent. He still thought Dan didn't know, but of course he did. Dan knew from the beginning. Dan even knew who Phil was cheating on him with.

And yet, Phil still pretended to be in love with Dan. Sadly, Dan let him do that.

Dan still let Phil cuddle him, even though the perfume still lingered on him. He'd just sob quietly, and if Phil heard him, he didn't say anything.

He'd let Phil kiss him, even though Dan's eyes always teared up.

He'd let Phil tell him he loves him, despite wanting to correct him. He'd want to yell at Phil. He'd want to yell at Phil that he was wrong, that he didn't love Dan. Maybe he used to, but not anymore.

Dan let him do all this because he was a fool. A lovestruck fool who couldn't let him go.
