April POV

"Who is it?" I asked questioning who the caller was when a nervous Kyungsoo handed the phone over to me.

"Hello?"

"Is this Mrs.Do?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"Sergeant Hanson is looking to speak with you."

Sergeant Hanson.

Haven't heard that name in years.

Sitting down on the bed, Kyungsoo turned off the bathroom light and took a seat next to me on the bed. He took my hand and held it with Questioning and Very Nervous eyes searching mine for answers.

"April?" Hanson's voice boomed through the phone. His demanding voice was gone and replace with a calm one.

"Sergeant Hanson." I sighed and Kyungsoo's head shot up once he heard me say the older mans title. "You were looking for me?"

"Yes, You know how it's going on Europe right?"

"Yes."

"April you are in the United States Army. You're enrolled and enlisted, But you're on standby. You'll be called in when in an emergency or an special missions."

"But- Hanson I have a family now. I can't drop everything and leave." I begged becoming desperate. "Please understand."

"I understand you, but that's what you signed up for. And you know that very well April. Now please, be ready in case you do get called. Take care and happy holidays goodbye." He ended the call leaving me dumbfounded and scared.

"April?" Kyungsoo asked as his eyes become glossy after seeing my reaction. "Don't- Don't tell me.."

"Kyungsoo." I sighed hugging him tightly, putting my phone down and just giving myself to Kyungsoo.

"April.. Did you go into the battlefield before?"

"Yeah. I did, it's a scary place. You have to be ready for anything. Or not your screwed." I said remembering the day I went to visit William and David at their Military base in Iraq during the Iraqi Civil War of 2003.

"I went to go visit William and David in Iraq because it was the last goodbye before then leaving for the war. I was 11 years old my mom thought I was to young but I insisted."

"William!" I smiled running into my older brothers arms.

"Hi April." He smiled, "How's Umma and Nana?"

"They're good, and they miss you."

"I miss them too."

Looking around at the base I expected a house or Tent into the fields. But no, we were in a ditch with sand bag walls and wired fences. Large old yet powerful cannons aligned on the sides, men and women running around the base with Guns and other weapons at hands.

"April you go with David okay?" My dad said grabbing my hand and leading me to Davids side.

"I'll see you later April." William waved as we walked away. But the next thing changed my whole 11 year old perspective on the world and war.

Davids grip on my hand became tighter and he pace quickened by the second. I heard metal against metal, guns being reloaded. The same sound when grandpa and dad would reload their guns at home.

The base fell quiet once David sat me down on a chair and a women held me once I heard the first bomb blow. Commands and orders were being thrown everywhere.

"I'll be right back, okay? Don't worry. I'll be over soon." He smiled and kissed my forehead before running out of the tent.

"They managed to get me out of there in time, the base was blown up and taken over. I didn't see them until 8 years later."

"But what if you were taken out of there?" Kyungsoo asked as he held me in his arms his head on my shoulder, as he pulled with my hair.

"I would've died." His hug tightened after those words. "I need to tell you what will happen if I don't come back-"

"April, please don't say that." He said his voice breaking as he spoke, "You'll make it. I know you will, I just don't want you to go."

"I wish I could tell, but with what I'll be assigned too with change the outcome. It depends on the missions."

"What missions are signed up to?" His voice had fear and nervousness written on his words.

"Front lines, reinforcement, and.. suicide missions." I sighed.

"Suicide missions!?" He nearly screamed, but I shushed him before he woke up Adam.

"It has another name but, it went you're in a small group of soldiers and they're objective is to take over a fort or base of the other enemy. Or to just scope out the enemies area." I sighed explaining the situations that lie ahead.

We just talked a little bit more that night, but the atmosphere was still very tense and uneasy knowing I could receive a call, telling me it's time to go.

Only god knows when that'll happen, but I hope it's not sometime soon.
