In her shredded night gown,
She stood alone,
Looking through the mirror,
"Mirror, mirror who am I?" She asked.

It showed a girl of age,
Under a mask of happiness,
The night and mist surrounds her,
Her heart as dark as any black hole.

It showed an old little girl,
Who have fought wars,
Who lost an arm,
And tear streaked cheeks.

It was obvious,
That all her flaws were apparent,
How all her smile hadw faded,
How she lost all faith for herself.

A bedraggled child with a doll she'd tried to fix,
With no luck of living,
No chance of believing,
That anything would be fine at all

She refused to believe the truth,
She forced herself to think that all these are bogus,
She tried to make herself belive she's fine,
But all of us can see otherwise.

She ran the opposite direction,
With her broken dreams at arms,
She's dripping blood,
And she's happy that it might all end.

Under piles and piles of lies she hid,
Behind locked doors she showed herslef,
To no one in particular,
And she cried..

They were watching her she can feel,
Shadows in the room with kind eyes,
A kind soul she'd never met,
For she's not worth to have them.

They were shadows,
They were dark,
But they had a kind heart and sad smiles,
She's ready to brighten them up.

Behind locked doors she promised,
That she'll do everything for them,
That she''ll risk every thing,
Even as she dies.

She crossed her heart,
And promised to the stars,
That she'll bring them home one day,
And she''ll make the shadows happy again.

The shadows were her only friends,
To her they were people,
To her they were hers,
To her they were a family she's ready to live for.

But to the gods they were measle little beings,
Who'd only end up hurting her,
The gods never realized how old she really is,
The gods never wanted to hear the protests of her heart.

To the skies cried,
For help and strength,
But the never really heard her screams,
They never really see her bleed..

She doesn't understand,
Why the gods are trying to take them from her,
They said the shadows weren't human,
They said the shadows weren't suitable for her.

But the shadows were her everything,
They were her world,
Without them she's lost,
Without them the girl dies.

They were her hear,
The blood that courses through her veins,
Behind locked doors she showed herself to them,
Behind locked doors she becomes who she can't be.

She was wild,
She was kind,
She was funny,
And she tried to be there for all of them.

She tried to hug them when they cry,
Even when her arms went through them,
Even when she felt sad she can't make them feel better,
She tried.

She tried to be there every single day,
To paint the room blue,
And to make the shadows smile,
And she was always there to listen.

To the shadows and the music they play,
The stories they tell,
What they hide behind closed eyes,
And how they cry at night.

They tell them that it'll be okay,
That the night is always darker when it's closer to the Sun,
She told them that she'll pull them through,
But her promises were broken even though she never intended to.
