CHAPTER 45
Vanessa's POV
"Real, Vanessa." Banggit ng emcee sa mic.
Proud akong tumayo mula sa kinauupuan ko at taas noong naglakad paakyat ng stage.
"Go, Vanessa!!" I heard them cheer.
Huminga muna akong malalim bago nagsalita sa mic.
"Hello, graduates. What am I going to say? Hindi ako nagprepare ng speech because I want it to come naturally and honestly." Nahihiyang sabi ko.
Yes, I'm giving my valedictorian speech.
"First of all, I would to give my deepest thanks to all the people who helped me, inspired me, and motivated me to study harder. My friends, classmates, teachers, and of course God. Who guided me in this path and journey."
Huminga ulit ako ng malalim.
Sobrang kinakabahan pa rin ako. You know I'm not used to this. Talking in front of people.
Nilingon ko yung pwesto nila Charles, they gave me two thumbs up.
"You know when I was a transferee then, I thought of not having friends and spending my time here alone. But that's what I thought. Someone, came over me and asked me to be his friend. How nice was that? At first, I thought he was just playing around kasi sino ba naman ang may gustong makipagkaibigan sa isang geek at bookworm na katulad ko? After some days, I began to like him, as a friend. I realized that why would I push someone away? He insisted to be my friend anyway. Then my bestfriend came, she made my school life easier and happier. She motivated me to do my best. She introduced me to her group of friends here which is the SG band."
Ito na, sasabihin ko na.
Nilingon ko si Luke at nakita ko siyang ngumiti at nagthumbs up.
"I have something to confess."
Nakarinig ako ng bulung bulungan.
"Ako, at si Iza ng SG band, ay iisa."
Nanatili silang tahimik.
"I did that disguise on purpose. I have my personal reason why I kept it a secret. I just don't want people to know my identity but now, I'm telling the truth. My Aunt doesn't want me to sing, and because I really love singing, I came up with this idea. My bandmates helped me to keep my identity a secret."
"I learned a lot in my almost one year stay in this school. It gave me experiences that I will never forget in my entire life. I'm thanking you all for being part of my school life. Congratulations to us, graduates!"
Nagtayuan sila at nagpalakpakan. Nakangiti naman akong bumaba ng stage. Para akong nabunutan ng malaking tinik sa dibdib.
Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na wala kang tinatago.
