Chapter 22

Umaasa

Amber's  POV

"Hello, Demin, kamusta ang meeting?" I asked while driving. My phone was on the dashboard, ring hooked.

-"The board decided that if you will not come to see them today--"-

"Demin, you know I can't go in there. I still have things to do."

I heard him sighed. -"Yeah, yeah, I know."-

-"Besides, you were really the owner of Diadionne Hospital. I am just the president kasi pinagkatiwala mo sa akin. I don't have the rights to decide about 'your' hospital because it's yours not mine."

-"Wait.. are you saying that you're backing out?"-

"Of course, not! Ano ka ba! Ang ibig ko lang sabihin ay ayaw ko munang mag-isip isip ng kung ano. Pahingahin mo muna ako sa problema, please, Demin? Now that the doctors rate in our hospital is decreasing, tanging si Charm at Wage nalang ang humihila sa atin pataas. I owe them a lot especially my best friend, Demin. Kasi kahit problemado iyang si Charm at minsan lang nagdu-duty sa hospital ay siya lang ang tanging nagpapataas sa atin. Tell the board that from now on, you'll handle the Diadionne hospital." Mahaba kong litanya.

-"What?! Are you kidding me, Amber? Oh c'mon! Parang sinasabi mo narin na mag ba-back out ka. You know I build that Hospital for your own good and not mine kahit na ako pa ang may-ari! Amber, I have my own business to deal with--"-

I cut his words. Ramdam kong naiinis na siya.

"Please, Demin... all I am asking is for you to understand me. If you don't want to handle it then let someone who you trusted would do."

-"Okay, then. I'll ask Rosco,"- he said with finality.

My eyes widened because of the name he just said. Si Rosco?!

"Oh?! Buhay pa pala siya! Kamusta na kaya iyang si Toto?!" tatawa tawa kong saad.

I called Rosco, Toto dahil sa totoy moves niya na ikwenento sa akin noon tungkol sa nililigawan niyang babae pero sad to say na binabalewala siya nito. Now I wonder if Rosco already got the girl.

Rosco is my companion in Chicago before I went to Paris where I met my Bestfriend, Charm.

-"Ganun parin. Totoy bibo parin ang buset."- I think he rolled his eyes. Kahit hindi magkasundo itong dalawa ay sobrang pinagkakatiwalaan ito ni Demin hindi lang dahil pinsan niya ito kundi dahil tapat ito sa kadugo.

"I hope Toto will accept the offer. Hindi naman siya malulugi kung siya muna ang hahawak sa hospital diba? Kung gusto niya tataasan ko pa ang porsyento na makukuha niya!"

-"Edi wow. Kita ata malulugi niyan sa gagawin mo, Amber."-

"'Wag mo nang alalahanin 'yan. Ako nang bahala sa kanya pag nagkita kami! Bye!"

I cut off the call and concentrate on the road while humming and tapping my fingers in the steering wheel. Saan ba ako pupunta? Saan nga ba? Syempre, saan pa nga ba? On the way to Neo's house, of course!

All I have to do now is to do whatever my heart wants. Hindi naman masama kung tatakbuhan ko muna ang problema, diba? Gusto ko pahingahin muna ang sarili ko and if I say 'pahinga' it means I comfort myself seeing the twins and Neo. Sila lang ang tanging kailangan ko.

I was about to turn right ng may namataan akong isang tao sa park na nakaupo sa bench at hawak hawak nito ang cellphone. My face brightened if I'm not mistaken that it was Neo who's sitting in there! It's as if he's waiting for someone. At ako naman si assuming ay nag-aasume na ako ang hinihintay niya.
