Third person POV
A little earlier...
Jake was escorted by Tony to his cell which was just down the hall from Daya's. As soon as Tony put him in his cell and left with the rest of the Avengers and a bunch of guards, he heard Daya make a quippy remark down the hall.
"Am I supposed to live in this thing?" she asked.
Jake smiled at her reaction because thats what he wanted to say when he saw his. It wasn't the large glass cell the Avengers had made to contain "enhanced" like Daya, yet it was a plain solid metal cell with a metal cot to the side and the door was made out of glass, the only way he could see outside his cell.
Adjusting to his new home, he sat down on the cot and wondered how he can explain this all to his boss Kane. Surely enough he could let it slide IF they get out of there, but if they show up empty handed, that would be worse.
"Yeesh, it was just a question...Its not like I hid a bomb somewhere in this room..." he heard Daya remark.
He chuckled lightly at her witticism and lightened the mood in his cell, just a little, but the mood fell when he thought about how she would react when he tells her the real reason as to why Kane offered the job.
Its not like he wanted to work for them, but when Kane threatened him and Daya's lives, he had no choice. After all, he was just looking out for her.
"When do I get my first phone call?" she quipped again, and thats just what Jake needed to hear to snap him out of his brooding state.
Fury and Maria were making their way towards Daya's cell when they heard the same remark.
"She sounds just as sarcastic as Stark" Maria commented.
"Hopefully she does not have his personality because I don't need another Stark" Fury replied plainly.
Jake heard their comments as they passed his cell and started mentally cursing them out for bad talking his friend. He didn't want to attract anymore negative attention, so thats why he kept his profanities to himself. He continued to listen in on everything they were saying though, and what did he mean about "I don't need"?

"I'm serious!" Jake heard Daya yell after the conversation she had with Natasha.
He was listening to the whole thing, and when he heard Hydra, it sent a cold chill down his spine. Tony raced past his cell as well as the soldiers towards her cell. Now he really got worried.
"What's going on!? Where's Daya!"
They didn't answer him since they were busy rushing to her cell. Thats when he heard Tony yell...
"See! What I tell ya! She glows green!"
Jake felt rage bubble up inside him from Tony's stupid remark until the rest of the Avengers rushed past.
"What's happening!? Let me help!" He yelled, but they ignored his cries, all except Steve.
Steve overtook everyone but when he heard his cry, he glanced back to him then saw the pained expression on his face. He is her friend after all, Steve can relate. But as much as he wanted to let him out to help, he couldn't.
When they got there, Jake still listened in on the discussion worriedly, he even began pacing the empty cell while biting his nails.
"Worst *wheeze Day *wheeze EVER!" He heard her yell, then came the rest of the Avengers outbursts...
"Tony! Open the door! She's having a panic attack!" He heard Steve shout. THAT'S what caught his attention and made him turn his frantic pacing into violently pounding on the glass door.
"If she has another one of her "moments", the cell will just contain her powers because I tweaked the energy containment shield and its high frequency will redirect the blah blah blah blah..." He heard Tony rant on about science, but he was beginning to tune it out due to the fact that Tony didn't give a rats ass about Daya's safety or well-being.
"I swear when I get my hands on that ass-hat..." He growled to himself while still pounding on the door.
"Tony! Open the door!" He heard Steve yell.
Steve had enough decency to realize that she was in distress, so Jake had a bit of sympathy for him since he didn't hear anybody else help.
A few moments passed until he heard Tony yell at Steve for taking her out of the cell, and when he heard Steve order them to get her to a medic, his heart sank.
What happened? Will she be alright? Why would he have to take her to a medic? Is it that serious?
All these thoughts clouded his mind, including his vision when he realized he was tearing up. And when Steve rushed past with her lifeless body in his arms, everything stood still.
"Daya?" He breathed.
Just the sight of her in Steve's arms made his tears fall, but he quickly wiped them away when everybody else ran by. He dropped his bruised and bloody hands that were still pressed up against the door and backed away from it, then they began trembling with a mixture of fear and rage. Mostly because of Tony, but mainly because of his stupid decision to take the job.
"If I hadn't of...If I had just..." He snarled to himself while building up more rage, until the yell down the hall got his attention...
"Tony!"
The voice echoed throughout the hallway and was followed by tremors in the floor, Daya's spikes.
"All I wanted was a normal Friday evening! Not all of this earthiness!" he heard another one yell, and that was Clint. Being strung up by the underpants by a huge spike is "NOT COMFORTABLE".
Steve ran with Daya to the medical bay, and all the while, he had to dodge spikes that randomly sprung up out of the concrete floors, which was a bit of a guessing game at one point. The Avengers and the guards were cut off from them, so Tony turned back down the hall and decided to pay Jake a visit...
"You! What's her deal!?" Tony demanded while pointing at him from the other side of the door, but Jake had just about enough of his brainless, idiotic, ignorant, stupid remarks...
"I swear that if anything happens to her, you are going to have to wear that suit 24/7 because if I'm still breathing, your donkey ass might be found six feet under by his friends" he snarled at him, and that was a full on threat.
Tony, that was now shocked at his reaction, started to back away from the door while running the threat through his brain and while Jake was glaring bullets into his head. When he fully turned away to head to the medical bay, Jake muttered to him:
"And that's a promise"
