Daya
"Okay people, I've got some questions." I stated seriously.
After my nap, I got off the couch and Tony took the cuffs off. I told them that my memory was an old one that had a "bonus scene" but that wasn't the case. Although Natasha seemed a little suspicious of my answer, I managed to play it off.
Steve simply looked utterly disappointed. Maybe it had something to do with Bucky, but I didn't want to ask. Even though I really wanted to.
We were all now standing around in a thick cloud of awkward and the only one that seemed to break the tension was moi.
"No, no, no. First, we end this merry-go-round story about the weapon and you guys come clean." Tony interjected while pointing to Jake and I menacingly.
I gave him my best expression for being both questioning and stunned and then turned to Jake. I already told Clint that Jake knows more than me, which is the truth, but I have no idea how I'm going to convince him to tell them what this whole mission was about.
"Hey, uh, you might want to ask him." I whispered behind my hand and pointed to Jake beside me discretely.
Jake caught a bit of my gesture, before I quickly tried to hide it from him, then exhaled sharply. I know he doesn't want to give up his "confidential" and "secret" err... Secret. But if it makes us walk free, I'm going to have to squeeze the information out of him...
"The weapon was going to be sold to a third party." Jake stated with his arms crossed.
What the.... Did he hear my threat? And darn! I wanted to get all detective-y again and ask unrelated questions before rushing to the real ones...
"Wait... Just like that?" Tony asked genuinely confused. He slowly paced over to me from where he was standing and came up in my face. "Just like that?" He whispered into my face.
I backed away from him with my face scrunched up in disgust and nodded quickly so he could get his answer. Even I was confused, but hey, at least we ALL are getting somewhere...
"Who's the third party?" Steve cut in while dropping his crossed arms and stepping a little closer to us.
I pursed my lips into a fine line and waved my hands to Jake while stepping back dramatically. I saw out of the corner of my eye the weary look on his face as I did so, and I couldn't help but smirk.
"Boss didn't say anybody specific, just said that I needed to get it for a third party." He answered with a shrug.
"Where's your boss?" Natasha cut in as well.
"Well... Same place as always." I said dryly.
"And where is that?" Tony interjected, but Jake only gave him a tired look. "Come on! Don't be half answering questions dramatically like that... Only I get to do that..." He added with a pout.
I could literally see the next word Jake was about to say fall out of his mouth, but I held myself together so I wouldn't steal the spotlight.
"Westchester." Jake stated dramatically.
I let out a quiet sigh and nodded in confirmation. We both know where that wacko is chilling out. Probably kicking back on his big throne watching outdated series while sipping a cold one.
I honestly don't give a hoot if he gets arrested. Better yet, I don't care if I get that chance either. I would gladly walk back to the gang and hand his butt over to the real authorities, but if word gets out...well let's just say I'll most likely start an uproar in the criminal underworld...
