"AHHH!" the couple screamed as they clutched onto each other for some form of comfort.
I quickly threw a column of earth beneath the robot before it could fire, the blast missing them by a hair. As if in slow motion, I watched as the couple stood there in shock and disbelief while the robot shot into the air like a rocket. But like all things, gravity pulled it back down. It looked like a lifeless ragdoll with its arms and legs weightlessly hanging in the air as it fell out of the sky.
Before it got remotely close to the ground, I used the same column of earth and broke it in half, shaping the elements into two large, rock spears. I threw them at the robot with full force and watched as one tore it in half at the waist then the other successfully impaled its metal head, ultimately deactivating it.
Its remnants crashed to the ground directly in front of the couple who were still clutching each other. The scene was quite comical as they glanced at it on the ground before taking notice of me. They were numb with shock, and I knew if they stayed where they are, I'd probably have to impale ten more robots to keep them alive. With that being said, I ran towards them with open, friendly palms to show I meant no harm.
"You gotta get out of here, okay? Head in that direction and run as fast as you can. Get out of the city," I instructed them and a few others that were idling in the background.
No one moved.
I sighed and looked up to the heavens for help before looking back at everyone with a serious expression, hoping this will get through to them.
"GO!" I yelled while flying my finger out in the direction they should run.
Then with that, everyone kicked into gear. They gathered their senses and began to run in the direction I showed them. I only hoped that as I helped the others they wouldn't be confronted by more robots. . .
Suddenly, more of the metal tin heads dug themselves out of the ground behind me, but I sensed them in time. I skillfully jumped before one could grab my ankles then gathered up more of the surrounding brick road to use simultaneously. One fancy somersault later and I sent daggers of hardened stone - the sharpness of a double edged sword - directly at the three metal zombies clawing out of the ground.
Most of the stones impaled them, but they didn't create as much damage as I thought. The robots carried on clawing themselves out of the ground, all I managed to do was slow them down.
The trickled crowd around me were too close. Instead of waiting for them to come to their senses and head for the hills, I quickly stomped my foot and shifted them further away. The brick road lifted and moved them like a moving walkway - those flat escalators you normally find in airports - until they were at a safe distance.
