I'm back in the forest by Kane's house. The forest was darker, and the trees were an unsettling ghostly color, almost transparent. The light barely shone through the leaves, making it eerier in contrast.
"H-help m-me..." A voice moaned beneath me.
I slowly glance down, but I didn't want to. The man... he was buried in the ground, only half of his body protruding out. He had his hands outstretched for me, but I fumbled back and landed on my butt. He slowly began to dig himself out, one arm scratching the soil, the other hand still half buried, but at the wrist. Then he rose up like a corpse. His body was covered in dirt, the hole in his chest even more gruesome than what I had seen before. In the forest before, only a small bit of fabric was torn and shot through, but this, it was like his whole chest was... gone.
I started crawling backward hastily. He was almost out. I didn't even help him out. He did that on his own.
Abruptly, he stood and looked around, almost as if he lost sight of me. There were... missing parts on his arms and legs... like he was a decomposing corpse. It was horrifying to look at, but my dream self couldn't look away. Then he looked down at me. I froze. He kept his eyes on me the whole while. He took one step. And then another. And then another.
My chest tightened at the sight of him. The dreaded feeling in your gut that tells you to run was present, but I just couldn't. I didn't move. I couldn't. I just sat there staring at his dreadful figure looming closer like a zombie.
Then he lunged at me, but before he could ever touch me, I'm thrown back into another reality. The forest floor cracked and shifted like the earth came to life and opened its jaws to swallow me. I couldn't bend any of it. Oh, the irony.
It broke apart and beneath it was another scene. I fell through and landed on a ledge. Deciding to watch this one from a good distance, I remain there.
I peeked down and saw a small child. A little girl and she had dark brown, black hair... like mine...
"Did you put your seatbelt on?"
Mom.
"Yes..." I mimicked my little self as she- I - said it.
This looks so real... It's like it was just yesterday. I floated down and sat next to my little self, the familiar car interior already bringing back memories. I watched it all play out, my little self quickly and quietly putting the seat belt into the buckle without my mom noticing.
"You sure?" She said cheekily as she got up and twisted on her chair, grabbing the headrest and peeking over the top of it.
I sat perfectly still and had my hands resting in my lap, looking all innocent. "Yup." I chirped as she studied me with a questioning glare and pout.
"Alright..." She smiled before dismissing me and turning back around to start the car.
We were planning on going to the movies since I finished studying. She promised.
I watched as little me anxiously bounced on the seat while we pulled out of the driveway. I stared out the window and viewed the world with curious, bright eyes at the passing street signs and towering buildings during the ride. Then a familiar tune came on the radio...
