Third Person POV
DING!
Pepper's work phone suddenly went off. She had just got off the phone with Tony and was about to go to bed until it did. She leaned over and picked it up off the night table, letting the light illuminate nearly the entirety of the room. Her eyes squinted at the sudden brightness before getting over it, unlocking the phone with her thumb and finding the source of the new notification.
Inbox: 1
She rolled her eyes at the new notification and e-mail. It was late and she wanted to drop the phone back in its place on the nightstand, to roll over and forget she'd seen it until morning, but she didn't. After all, it was a company e-mail.
She tapped the inbox, opening the screen to the names and known individuals in her personal list, but the new message was from an unknown and foreign sender.
"That's odd. . ." she mumbled to herself as she tapped it with her finely done acrylics. The screen then opened to its message: Ohana.
"Ohana?" She mumbled in confusion. She looked the word over again, tracing each letter over with her tired eyes carefully. "Ohana. . ." she repeated to herself in the dark.
She was tempted to delete it, thinking it was spam or one of those fakes that contain a virus, but she decided to leave it. Thinking that it was some silly trick or tease from Tony, she opened her contacts and called him up. Pressing it to her ear she listened as the phone rang out once and he quickly picked up.
"Hello? Pepper? What's wrong?" He quickly answered.
She lightly laughed to herself at his love sick attitude and puppy behavior over the phone whenever she called then jumped right back to the matter.
"Why did you just send me an e-mail through the company?" She questioned.
"What? I didn't send you anything." He replied with a slightly concerned tone. His mind quickly jumped to her safety and suddenly he was in "serious-overprotective-Tony" mode. "Pepper, who is it from? Can you see the I.D.? Is it someone we already know from the company contacts?" He fired off questions with panic clearly in his voice.
Pepper really laughed at that. "You wouldn't know the names of the company's we associate with, much less their e-mail address'." She snorted. "But yes I can see the sender. I don't know how to pronounce it though. . ."
"What's the message say?" He pressed. The sudden thought of a death threat or something related to Peppers safety being compromised got him on edge.
"It just says 'Ohana'." She answered plainly. She listened as it got quiet on his end, like he was running laps of thoughts around his head."Do you know what that means?" She then questioned, growing a little tired of his pause.
"I think I might. . . Quickly forward it to me. . . I'll look into it. . ." He trailed as his mind circled back to the issue the team was having with Hydra and Daya.
Pepper furrowed her brows as she did what he said, tapping the forward button and clicking his personal e-mail. It sounded like he knew or had an idea of what it was and she never liked when he would keep things from her. "What is it? Is it something important?" She questioned to get something of an answer from him.
"Uh. . . it might be. . ."
"Do you think it might be from that girl?" She basically told him rather than question. She recalled all the night calls and texts of their progress on the case, more specifically when Tony would confide in her his failures and how he wished everything would go smoothly in bringing her back home. And the fact that she realized that made Tony open his eyes. He didn't respond and it was silent again, so she spoke first. "Tony? What if it's that girl? Da. . . Dal. . ."
