Third Person POV
The whole room fell silent.
Daya was now the complete center of attention, and everybody was shocked that Jake even let up this information in front of them. It was uncalled for.
"I-I-I..." Daya repeatedly muttered like a broken record.
Steve took a few steady steps in her direction before Natasha cast him a reassuring look to show him that she got this.
It was best if they let this unforseen act play out and run its course, so she cast the same look to the rest of them, more specifically Thor since he was about to play a chivalry card to ease the situation.
"Guys," she started to break the tension, and interrupted Daya's incessant stutter. "We can continue this conversation for a later time-"
"No," Daya cut her off. "Let's ALL hear what my dear, close, friend, Jake has to say." she said in a sarcastic, yet serious tone.
Jake glanced everywhere else in that room except Daya, and her patience was already wearing thin, so that wasn't helping.
"Ahem," she tried to get his undivided attention, but he couldn't bring himself to meet eye to eye with her, instead, he locked eyes to the floor below his feet, then spoke in a barely audible voice.
"This wasn't how I wanted to tell you," he muttered.
"Oh really now." She retorted while bringing her hands up to cross over her chest. "I guess after you and I steal a weapon, are now being held here against our will, not to mention surrounded by the Avengers which are still in this room watching us, obviously seems like the perfect time to tell me this information." She laid it all out just to get some reaction out of him, and it was beginning to work.
"Of course I waited this exact moment to tell you, Daya." He answered sarcastically. "Honestly, I swear that you think I did ALL OF THIS just to hurt you, or I'm doing it on purpose!"
"Sureeeeeee... I definitely believe that you are doing this 'on purpose', Jake. Seriously! I don't think you're doing this on purpose, it's just that you could've waited before blurting it out in front of these guys! And why are you raising your voice? There is NO NEED TO RAISE YOUR VOICE!"
"BECAUSE YOU ARE RAISING YOURS!" He retaliated.
"Oh, well, SORRY FOR MAKING IT SEEM THAT WAY, BUT I AM NOT RAISING MY VOICE, YOU ARE!"
"NO, YOU STARTED DOING IT FIRST!"
"NO! YOU STARTED IT!"
"NO"
"YES"
"NO"
"YES! YES YOU DID!!!" She squealed while pointing her finger at him.
By now, everyone was unsure if this was some plan of theirs to escape due to the sudden change of trust between them. It sure was confusing the hell out of Thor and Steve though...
"Guys! Who started yelling first!" Daya ditched the feud to get a second opinion.
Since Tony was right behind her on the swivel chair, although he was right in the middle of sneaking away from them, he quickly sat back down and muttered some foreign blabber.
"What?!" She snapped at him.
Of course she could hear him clearly due to her 'super hearing', but she just wanted him to speak up.
