Bryn’s POV –

Derek and I were walking home after running a few daily errands, like paying bills and such for the house. Zoey had taken Blissity out for lunch. Tattiana would most likely be on her way back home from the funeral, I hope nothing went wrong.

“Are you going to finish what you were telling me back in my room earlier?” I ask Derek as we turn the corner of the street.

“Oh yeah about your next assignment. We shouldn’t talk about this out in public but all I can say for now is that the guy you’re after is worth fifty grand. You don’t want to miss out on this one.” Derek was looking around at the neighborhood houses, making sure no one was eaves dropping on our conversation.

“Fifty?” My eyes shot up in amazement. “Wow damn you’re right I don’t wanna miss out on this. When do I start this?”

We arrived at the house, just as Tattiana’s car pulled up in the driveway. She waved to us while parking the car, killing the ignition soon afterwards. Derek and I walked around the car just as Tattiana opened the car door and stepped out, closing it shut behind her.

“How was everything?” I asked her, walking up the porch stairs, waiting for Derek to find the house key and let us in.

Tattiana merely shrugged, avoiding my eyes a sense of suspicion trickling down my spine. I bit my lower lip, contemplating on whether or not I should ask if something was wrong. Tattiana finally looked at me, bringing her hands together as Derek unlocked the door, twisting the door knob and pushing the door open.

We walked into the house, Tattiana settling her bag on the couch and running her hands through her hair as she began walking up the stairs.

Derek licked his lips, staring at Tattiana questioningly. “Is everything alright?”

Tattiana nodded, continuing up the stairs. I looked at Derek, raising at eyebrow. He shrugged and walking into the dining room, I followed from behind. We both took a seat at the table; Derek sat back in his seat, letting out a breath.

“Well, you can start tomorrow or the next day. Doesn’t matter; just make sure you get it done.” Derek tapped his fingers on the table.

“I’ll do it in two days. Tomorrow is only a day after Jason’s sister’s funeral, it’s too soon. Two days is still too soon but I don’t have a problem with it.” I reply, staring Derek directly in the eyes.

Derek’s jaw flexed, “Good. I’ll have the guns ready for you by tomorrow. You should go upstairs and see what’s up with Tatti.” He pointed up at the ceiling.

I groaned, pushing back on my seat and standing up, exiting the dining room. I made a sharp turn, holding onto the railing of the stairs and began going up to the second floor. When I reached the second floor I walked down the hall over to Tattiana’s room and knocked on the door.

“It’s me.” I said, grabbing the door knob. “Can I come in?”

“Don’t care.” She replied nonchalantly. I twisted the door knob and stepped into her room.

“Did something happen at the funeral?” I asked her, stepping further into the room to find Tattiana removing her make-up in front of her mirror.

She shook her head, “Nope everything’s fine. Why?”

I walked over to her, looking at her in the mirror. “Don’t lie to me. If something happened you should tell me.”

Tattiana stared at me through her reflection. She placed the napkin in her hands down on the dresser.
