One Week Later

Bryn’s POV --

I kneel down, placing a fresh bowl of water in front of Shadow. Petting her head softly, I stand up and walk over to my bed, plopping down on the pile of pillows Blissity was preparing to remove from their cases. Sighing, I glance at the clock and roll over on my bed. It’s been an entire week since I’ve last spoken with Jason. The day we did speak, we finally came to a mutual decision that some time apart is best. We didn’t break up, we just needed to open our eyes separately.

Right now, I was pondering over the thought of calling him. I think a week is enough and I personally think I’ve gotten my thoughts together. This entire week, I’ve spent time taking care of Shadow and planning on the escape with Blissity. Luckily she hasn’t objected to the idea of leaving Drew behind, she understands why we have to go and isn’t giving me a hard time about it. That’s good.

Jason most likely was taking care of his situation with Victoria. Getting closer to her for the purpose of me having no problem murdering her. Regardless, I’m sure he’s as eager to hear from me as I am to hear from him. Or maybe he’s not, who knows? I sure as hell don’t.

Listening to the sound of Shadow slurp up her water and the movement throughout the house, I roll over on my bed and stare up at the ceiling. Blissity calms running down the hall, carrying a small doggy bed in her hands. I roll my eyes at her and she places it on the floor beside her side of the bed, then grabs Shadow, who wasn’t close to quenching her thirst, and places her in the circular bed.

“What are you doing?” I say propping my hand up on the side of my face. “She wasn’t done drinking her water.”

“I want to see if it’s big enough.” She replies, picking Shadow up once again after she tries to hop out of the bed and run back to her bowl. “She has to get used to it too. Like, put her scent all over it.”

“It’s a dog. Not a cat.” I laugh lightly, “Leave her alone, Bliss. You’re doing too much.”

Sighing, Blissity settles on the side of the bed and watches as Shadows scampers towards her bowl and continues licking away at the water inside it. I roll over on my back once again and shut my eyes, letting out a deep sigh. Blissity falls back, her head hitting my stomach roughly which makes me cough out and laugh all at once. I run my hands through her hair and stare up at the ceiling all over again.

“What now?” She asks, turning her head in my direction.

“I was thinking of seeing Jason...or is it still too soon?” I ask.

“Whenever you’re ready.” She smiles, lifting herself up and lying back down beside me. “I’m sure he can’t wait to see you though.”

Now I smile and glare at her jokingly, “You’re just saying that Bliss. I’m not dumb.”

She shakes her head and sticks her hand, “I swear on everything. I’m just being honest.”

I roll my eyes again and laugh under my breath, “Sure.”

Afterwards, Bliss begins talking about Drew but my mind drifts off into the subject of Jason. I mentally agree with the idea of finally seeing him again. In fact, I’ll surprise him at his house. I’m sure he’ll like that. But the bigger topic involving him is....what we will talk about once we’re together again? I don’t want to sink back into the argument of running away, I want us to go on like that subject didn’t even matter. I guess we should jump right into business and talk about killing Victoria.

“He doesn’t know that I’m leaving yet.” My hearing comes back into play and that’s the only thing I recall Blissity saying.

“You have to tell him.” I nod slowly, “Don’t wait until the last minute. It’ll hurt him more.”
