Jason’s POV –

I roll over on the couch, unable to catch myself before falling on the floor and landing flat on my face. I groan, lifting myself up, the blankets and pillows toppling over me. What a great way to start my birthday.

I sit back against the edge of the couch, rubbing my face with my hands. I run a hand through my messy hair, I was still tired. I hear my phone vibrating from in between the cushions on the couch. I dig in between the cushions, fishing for my phone before grabbing it and flipping it over to look at the caller ID.

Jane was calling me.

I slide the screen, bringing the phone to my ears, I clear my throat. My voice was probably raspy as hell right now.

“Hello?” I say, resting my head against the cushions, eyes shut. I’d go back to sleep if I knew there wasn’t going to be a huge party in a couple hours.

“Happy birthday!” Jane says into the phone, her voice was cheerful.

I smiled faintly, “Thanks babe. What’s up?” I open my eyes, looking around the living room.

Megan had already set up a table for food and drinks. She moved most of the furniture for more room to dance and do whatever the fuck came to mind. There were balloons scattered in every corner of the house, I thought the balloons were a dumb idea but she insisted.

“Well,” Jane started; I could practically see her cute smile forming on her lips. “Since it’s your birthday I thought we should go out to eat breakfast together.”

I stood up, fixing my pants. I grabbed my blankets from the floor, rolling them up, not bothering to fold them, and throwing them on the edge of the couch.

“Really? Where?” I say, my phone in between my cheek and shoulder as I picked up the pillows from the floor.

“I was thinking iHop...sound good?” Jane asked.

Once I was finished with the couch, I take a look at the table. I pick up the plate of unfinished chips and grab my can of Coors Light before walking out of theliving room and into the kitchen.

“Yea that’s fine. When will you be over?” I ask, dumping the chips into the trash can and throwing the plate in the sink followed by the can in the trash as well.

I hear the sounds of footsteps coming downstairs, soon I see Megan turn the corner of the railing she was already dressed up for the party even though it wasn’t for another five hours at the most.

“I was thinking we’d meet each other there because I’m going to drive myself home. I’ll be there in an hour or two, I’m going to take a shower and they’re usually long.” Jane says with a small laugh at the end.

She was so cute.

“Alright, I just woke up not too long ago so I’m going to hit the shower...you’re still coming to my party right?” I ask.

“Yep.” Jane says, “After we go to iHop, I’ll go home and get ready.”

Megan walks into the kitchen, opening the oven which I hadn’t noticed was filled with food that was to be served tonight. She looks over the chicken that was being cooked before closing up the oven and turning to face me.

“Happy birthday!” Megan said arms out stretched to hug me.

I hugged her after she wrapped her arms around my neck, practically choking me.

“Thanks.” I say after she lets me.

“I’ll call you when I’m on my way to iHop.” Jane says, clearly she was beginning to feel awkward now that we weren’t talking.
