Bryn’s POV –
I sit back in the car, my chest rising and falling rapidly. I bit my lip roughly, trying to calm myself down. My arm and cheek were throbbing from the pain. I pulled the sleeve of my shirt down slowly, looking at myself in the mirror for the third time.
I rubbed my neck, Jason wasn’t playing any games. I turned off the light in the car and sighed, turning the car back on. I wipe tears away from my face.
I wasn’t crying because I was sad, these were only tears of frustration, disbelief and anger.
I drove back home, wincing every now and then at the pain in my cheek.
--
When I arrived home, I killed the ignition. Sighing once, knowing I’d have to face over a million questions as soon as I walked through those doors and everyone noticed my face.
I sucked up the courage to face everyone and opened the car door, stepping out. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach as I walked. I winced, grabbing on to my shirt. I walked up the stairs and over to the door, knocking on it a few times.
My knuckles were throbbing as well. I groaned, waiting for the door to open.
“I’ll get it.” I heard Blissity say, hearing a plate being set on the table and footsteps walking over to the door.
I sighed, worried what Blissity will say as soon as she takes in my appearance.
I played with my hair, messing with it, trying to make it cover my face somehow. As I did so the door knob twisted and Blissity opened the door.
“You’re home!” Her face lit up at the sight of me, she stepped to the side so I could walk in.
I kept my head low and walked inside, closing the door shut. I made an attempt to go upstairs but Blissity grabbed my hand.
“Are you OK?” Blissity asked, her voice worried. She tugged on my hand, wanting me to turn around.
“I’m fine…just sweaty. I need a shower.” I said, snatching my hand from hers. I bit my lip, the pain in my arm becoming unbearable.
“I know when you’re lying Bryn. What happened?” Blissity urged, she walked around me, standing in front of me.
“Maybe you should let her take her shower first.” Tattiana said, I heard her over by the TV.
Blissity looked at me, I avoided her eyes but I noticed how wide her eyes had gotten once she noticed the bruises on my cheek. She gasped, covering her mouth. I stared at her, long and hard hoping she’d get the message to keep her mouth shut about what she just saw.
But she didn’t listen, “What happened to you? Who did that?” She asked, the words escaping her lips rapidly.
I heard movement from my left and soon everyone was crowding around me. I felt like I was going to be sick. Tattiana was the first one to look at me after Blissity, she gasped as well noticing how bad my injury really was. Derek looked at me, shaking his head. Zoey covered her mouth.
“I got into a fight…with someone.” I said, trying to act natural by removing my belt and walking away from everyone.
I threw my belt on the couch and turned around facing everyone. They all had their eyes glued to the bruise on my face. I threw my hair behind my head.
“Who?” Derek asked, he was staring at my cheek in disbelief.
I go to cross my arms in front of my chest but wince at the pain in my arm. It began to throb feeling like my heart was beating inside it. I remained with my arms at my sides.
