Jason’s POV --
As hard as it was to walk away from her, it had to be done. What more could I have done? I wasn’t about to continue repeating myself, I made my point clear and yet she’s still too stubborn to see that. For once, she wasn’t thinking on her own, she was going off the decision of what others believe and it was corrupting her way of seeing reality. If she truly believes that we’re better off without each other then let’s put it to the test, I won’t give her the satisfaction of crawling back to her. Chasing her.
A girl’s mind is a complex element. I won’t even bother to guess what could possibly be going through her’s. I guess I should just continue with my end of our deal and go see Victoria. I have a few questions for the girl anyway and it’ll save endless nagging later on in the week.
Walking downstairs was a complete disaster, I should have just hopped out the window instead of making a dramatic exit. I had forgotten that in the midst of our argument Bryn wasn’t just talking, she was yelling and at times I’d yell back so it’s pretty obvious that Bliss and Derek heard majority of our discussion.
Blissity stands by the threshold of the living room, holding a shaking Shadow in her hands. She kisses the top of her head and strokes it’s fur all at once while staring at me worriedly. I stroll past her, quickening my pace to save myself from conversing with her or Derek. But as soon as I reach the front door Derek calls my name.
Frozen solid, I remain still and wait for him to come to me. Blissity steps aside and Derek steps out into the hallway, toying with something in his hands. I finally turn around halfway and stare at him irritatedly, hand on the doorknob and twisting it uncomfortably.
“Don’t sweat it.” He says and I realize that there was a lighter in his hands and he was going through a process of igniting it and killing the flame over and over again. “In the end it’s her decision.”
“No, it’s your decision. Bryn should know better.” I sneer, fist shaking the doorknob uneasily. “Go look at her, she’s probably still frozen in her tracks thinking about what she just did and how she can undo it. You clearly don’t know her as well as you think you do, this isn’t about her anyway. It’s about you telling her the wrong things.”
“What’s wrong about advising her to go off with solely Blissity?” He asks, glaring at me. “Did you not stop to think about Bliss and the kinds of danger she’ll be put in by traveling with the both of you?”
“Bliss is in danger regardless. She lives with a bunch of drug dealing, money making, gangsters. Spare me the bullshit Derek and actually use your motherfucking brain.”
“I can’t go anywhere without Drew.” Blissity butts in, shaking her head. “I don’t want to leave him. And Derek you can’t tell Bryn things like that, she may be smart but she’s easily influenced....you know that.”
“She’ll come to her senses.” I shrug, turning to open the door. “And if she doesn’t and she leaves...I hope she’s happy.”
“Jason, don’t be like this.” Blissity speaks through a shaky voice, I couldn’t tell if it was because she was afraid or just on the verge of tears. “Don’t leave Bryn again.”
“Hey, if anything,” I say to her, half smiling sarcastically. “She’s leaving me.”
“Don’t say that.” She sighs, narrowing her eyes to stare at Shadow.
“Do me a favor, will ya?” I say, licking my lips and swallowing down the disappointment rising in my throat, “Keep her smiling.”
“That’s your job.” She half smiles sadly.
