It was a partly cloudy and partly sunny day, a very fine day to go on swimming or playing outdoor games but this lady right in front of my eyes was not in the mood for anything but reading. She showed me a bag full of books yesterday, mostly novels and some are about arts and Dan Brown's.
But I don't think she liked to read books today. It felt like she was avoiding me, intentionally.
I waved at her, she smiled but walked away. I was thinking what I did but couldn't come up to any. I didn't want to think a lot so I'd leave her alone.
I put some distance between us. We were like starting again, trying to know how to get someone's trust back. Trying to get her back.
She came back outside, shouting, telling us that she cooked something. She was about to sit beside Bryana which was beside me but Luke insisted her to sit across from me. She couldn't look at me in the eyes, hell, she couldn't look at me, on my face. Was it because of holding her hands? Was the shirt didn't smell good? Was it me? "Can I have your extra fork?"
She looked up, then looked around to see if I was talking to other people. Apparently, they were all ignoring both of us so she asked, "Me? I don't have an-"
"You have." I said and looked at the side of her plate, she took a look at it too and she knew I was right.
She couldn't do anything but handed the fork over. "Thank you mademoiselle."
We ate in silence while the rumbling and chatting of people seemed to be endless. She'd look both sides at the corner of her eyes but not to me.
I've been wondering why.
As the plate passed from Bryana's group of friends to Luke, forward to us, which at the very end of the table. I thought the lasagna won't even make it to the both of us. She looked at it, worried, but as Calum as gentleman ever, he kept some for her.
I looked at them, I didn't intend to give them glaring eyes but I guess it was my body? My eyes? Not me. "Ashton. I can give you some as well." Bryana offered.
"Its very unfortunate of you. But I can cook some quickly and serve it for you." She stood up but I told her not to.
"Its okay. I could just take the bread." I signaled Mikey to hand the bread over. "This is good. I'm okay."
While I'm constantly trying to tell everybody that I'm fine with bread, Sarah just sat there and watch me. Staring.
After ten minutes, I finally convinced them to calm down and just eat what they have on the table. I watched them one by one. How Mikey get awkward with a girl beside him and tryna be as careful as he could be, while Calum and Luke were both laughing and careless because its 'only' Sarah. Calum and Luke were in between Mikey and Sarah. Bryana and her friends ate normally. Women eating food and talking and laughing; not as hysterical as Luke and Calum though.
And Sarah. She was eating very quietly, wasn't making any sound. Head down, eyes on the plate and wool-gathering.
And I did something I've been holding back for a while now.
S A R A H W E S L E Y
Apparently, Ashton Irwin just kissed somebody he barely knows.
Me.
Everybody stopped from eating, startled and shocked at the same time.
