Chapter VII | Under the Full Moon

The little red hooded girl continued to walk deeper into the forest with her scythe that is twice the size of her small body. She hummed a soft, cheery tune that she made herself.

As nightfall began to rise, the forest around her became darker and darker, until she could no longer see her surroundings. Ruby, the little red hooded girl puffed in frustration in a rather adorable way. "I can't see anything!" She said to herself as she stomped the ground with one of her foot. Ruby was traveling towards to a town where a few people and fables had reported about monster sightings and have recently been destroying happy endings-or rather killing livestocks and destroying homes. Ruby could not let this get away, she vowed...that every fable will have a happy forever after.

Ruby herself did not have a happy ending. Instead, she got a tragic and traumatizing ending. Elderly Hunter grandpa got killed after trying to save granny right in front of poor Ruby when she was young. It made Ruby's sanity break into pieces. She did not hesitate to charge at the wolf whom killed hunter grandpa and granny. She showed that wicked beast the death that they deserve.

After burying her families, Ruby locked the traumatizing event deep inside her mind. Sometimes happy memories of her being with grandpa and granny flashes before her eyes.

Little red continue to believe that her family is still alive and is waiting back home for her to finish her goal. Once she does finish her goal, she'll come back home with a wide smile of happiness, being hugged by her grandpa and granny. She'll bake pies and cookies with her granny once again and hunt with grandpa in the woods. But sadly, that will never turn into a reality, and the reality hurts for Ruby.

Ruby sighed and let herself sat down upon the rocky ground, she looked up to the moon, which is nearly covered by the trees. Small streaks of light passed through openings of the tree's leaves, it gave little brightness to the forest that is surrounding her.

The cold breeze tickled Ruby's fair skin, her golden hair twirled and flowed along the wind's rhythm as a soft smile formed on her face.

But that soft smile quickly faded away after hearing the bushes move. Ruby stood up, holding her scythe's handle tightly as she made her fighting stance. "Come out! Come out! Wherever you are!" She said in a child-like voice.

The clouds slowly covered the full moon until its light could no longer pass through. The darkness absorbed the forest until nothing could be seen. Ruby made her scythe emit a red light to cover some of the darkness, but she still couldn't see her surroundings.

Two bright, yellow eyes suddenly flashed in front of Ruby. It made her startled, so she jumped back away from it. The figure made a growl sound like a wolf would make.

Ruby's emerald eyes widened, the sound that the figure made reminded of her something tragic. The last time she heard and saw a wolf was the traumatizing event that she had. If the figure confirms itself as a wolf, it would drive Ruby into madness. "Show yourself.." Ruby said in a raspy voice, her hands beginning to shake.

Once the clouds uncovered the full moon, its light shined the darkness away, slowly revealing the figure that is in front of her.

After seeing the figure. Ruby saw that it is indeed a wolf. She felt something that she doesn't want to feel ever again; fear and helplessness, with a mix of her deep, utter hatred.
