Odette slipped the paper inside the envelope and walked towards to where Lancelot and her father are at. As the petals bloomed beautifully and the sky bright and blue as the wide ocean. The tranquil sensation of the garden instantly got destroyed by the aura of animosity that the Swan King gave off.
Lancelot could feel it surround this arena that has been built inside this Feather Garden. A hint of murderous intent that gave everyone-except for Lancelot a shiver down to the spine. "Your Majesty, may I ask if we can make a bet?" The sudden question made the maids and servants who were standing by to watch the fight gasp in shock. This young man looked quite foolish! If he thinks that he can win this fight against the Swan King he must be dreaming. "Of course." Cobham the Swan King answered with a sneer.
"Thank you, your Majesty. If I lose, I'll leave this castle and never return or you can have me executed. But If I win, please grant Odette to visit other realms with me accompanying her to keep her highness safe and sound." Lancelot explained the bet as briefly as he can. Serious in his eyes without a hint of regret or turning back. He's really going all in! Even putting his own life on the line just to have Odette get her freedom in going to other realms. Just like she has dreamed of.Lancelot has thought about it since yesterday. Seeing his m'lady so gloomy and disappointed after declining her request to take her outside of the Fable realm made his heart taste bitterness. He owes her his life and he would do literally anything for her even if it means placing his life on the bet. He is absolutely loyal to her even if they've just met! Cobham can see that but still felt doubtful about it. "Very well then. I'll let Odette go to whatever realm that she wishes to visit with you by her side if I win. I'll have you beheaded if you were to lose this duel." He spoke grimly. Tightly gripping the handle of his épée-one of the three swords used in the art of fencing. "Lancelot! Are you crazy?!" Odette suddenly yelled in the distance. Her etiquette disappearing in an instant. She couldn't believe this guy! He's sacrificing his life just to get her freedom. Is he really that loyal and selfless for her? It was admirable and made her heart get all wiggly, but at the same time angered her. "M'lady, in this day forward. Whatever you want I shall get it for you." He charmingly smiled at the swan princess who in return blushed and angrily glanced at him. "No bet! My freedom isn't worth it compared to your life!" Odette frustratedly cried out to her young knight. That confidence and selflessness will most likely be his doom today.
"M'lady's freedom is worth it. I, Lancelot shall give her highness whatever she desires." Lancelot spoke in pride and without fear or doubt in losing. He is confident and certain that he is able to win against her father. To see her beaming smile is very enough to be his reward!
Before Odette can speak any further. Cobham spoke out in his clear and loud voice that almost shook the ground. "We both have agreed to the bet! Now, boy. Show me that you are worthy enough for my daughter!" He isn't going to let some random man take away his beloved swan! Lancelot has only appeared today in front of their faces, let alone on their daughter's bed! This absolutely infuriated him to the core that he just wanted to dash towards him and pierce his sword through that small body of his. He must not let him win and take away Odette at all cost. Please win! I don't want you to die by my father's cruel hands! Odette anxiously thought as she began to sweat from being too nervous. The battle hasn't even started and yet, the whole arena is already intense.Once a soldier loudly announced that the battle has started. Odette quickly covered her eyes with her sweaty palms and turned herself away from the fight. She simply couldn't watch! In the other hand, her mother Evelyn tried to settle and calm her down by saying that everything will be all right and that her father won't be executing the poor lad. It didn't help the swan princess at all.
Cobham dashed or lunged quickly towards to Lancelot. Not as fast as lightning, but Lancelot silently praised him for it. He looked old, but his speed was no joke. Before the Swan King's sword could pierce through his chest. A cold smile could be seen on Lancelot's face for a split second before he performed a special technique that his family taught him. Thorned Rose-an amazing sword technique within an area that may strike enemies up to three times! This was one of his family's secret attack techniques. Only showed a few times in some great battles. Cobham was in shock, his clothes instantly tattered into a few shreds. This man is not a stranger nor a weakling-he is a descendant of the strong Baroque family in the Land of Dawn. His fame known to all until he suddenly disappeared one day. That special technique that he just showed reveals it all! But Cobham isn't giving up yet.
