Chapter 57 | Sacrifice

"Your father is quite the despicable man, your majesty, King Estes," Rafaela said as she appeared out of the shadows.

When Rafaela saw Elion's glance towards her appearance from earlier, she instantly knew she had to walk away from the conversation. So, Rafaela waited for Elion to leave before she could appear in front of Estes.

"Indeed he is," Estes replied, turning his head to look at the sacred angel. "You must be Rafaela, are you not? The angel responsible for eradicating pain and sufferings?" Estes questioned. "Indeed. I am one of the angels who descended into the Land of Dawn. My apologies for not arriving in the Emerald Woodlands, I had some problems along the way towards the destination." Rafaela answered, a slight frown on her face. Her grip on her long, golden staff tightening.

"It is fine," Estes said, his gaze turning towards to Miya and Yun Zhao who are still inside the arena. "Join my companion Miya and the Great Dragon's son, Yun Zhao. Miya would certainly be happy to accompany you towards to the Emerald Woodland." Estes said, lifting one of his hands to point out Miya and Yun Zhao.

Rafaela looked at the two people who Estes pointed at. They seemed to appear like couples. "Are you not going to join us, your Majesty?" Rafaela asked, looking at Estes with curiosity in her eyes.

Estes shook his head. "No, I need to finish a certain task before I can go back to the Emerald Woodland. I thank you in advance, for going there to help and heal my subjects." Estes answered, walking outside of the stadium until he could no longer be seen.

The Elven King did not see a sight or sign of Karina. Concerns filled half of his thoughts and slightly brought his heart down. She'll be fine, Karina is strong after all, Estes thought, but it didn't make him feel any better. If he loses Karina, he won't be able to track down Alice or get close to that demonic woman. He knows where Alice often goes, to that twisted realm called the Abyss. She dwells inside the castle of Vexana's since her own castle got destroyed by humanity.

Estes must be careful though. He is fully aware of the idea that Alice will certainly control Karina to help her murder him anytime and anywhere. It is quite odd that Alice hasn't controlled Karina ever since they first met. Maybe she is busy with a task or some sort.

The sudden loud ringing of an alarm and flashing red lights startled Estes. His anxiety overflowing him. "Please head towards to the nearest safe center without panic. The City is under attack. Our soldiers and protectors will do their best to protect the City and its beloved citizens." A female robotic voice announced. The alarm and flashing red lights continuing.

Every citizen and being from other realms immediately headed towards to the nearest safe center. Some of them panicked, of course, trying to be one of the first ones to enter the safe center so that they can be safe. Most of the Guards, soldiers, and protectors stood at the top of the wall that surrounded the City of Scholars. Two of those protectors were Lolita and Bruno.

Before they arrived at the top of the wall. Lolita and Bruno went back to the Headquarters and ordered their allies to arrive at the top of the wall, some were ordered to arrive at every safe center there is inside the City of Scholars. This is to make sure that if a group of enemy manages to sneak their way inside the City, they won't be able to take a citizen as a hostage or worse, killed.

Estes was about to leave the Headquarters until two armored guards prepared with large guns quickly ran over to him. They both bowed down in unison to show respect to his presence. "Your majesty, King Estes. You must immediately arrive at the The Great Dimensions Hall." One of the guards spoke in a hurried tone. "What's going on? Who is attacking the City of Scholars?" Estes asked, his face remaining expressionless even though he is quite concerned about the sudden attack.
