"You know that cool lady that just went flying? What did she mean by you killed her?!" Ruby asked childishly with excitement. Waiting impatiently for Alucard's answer.

Alucard looked away to avoid eye contact, looking quite nervous, his hand tightly gripping onto his demon arm. "Can we talk about this later? Your dad is...staring at me like he wants me dead." Alucard leaned close to Ruby's ear to whisper. "Why would he want you dead?" Ruby asked again but lowered her voice this time. She is quite disappointed that she won't be able to have the answer for one of her questions until later. "I think after hearing that I killed Fanny made him think I'm a murderer, he'll probably make you stay away from me..." Alucard answered, keeping his voice in a low tone. "That makes sense, you did kill a bunch of other people before," Ruby said rather grimly, her tone still low. Alucard was about to reply until Roger suddenly broke their conversation. "I'm standing here and I can actually hear you two talk," Roger said sternly, crossing his arms as he looked at the two with bitter eyes.

Ruby formed a frown on her face, quickly running towards to Roger. "Papa, are you really going to make Alucard stay away from me? Please don't! I don't wanna be lonely, Alu is the only person I can relate to! If you make him leave then he'll be all alone, wandering in this cruel world!" Ruby said dramatically, sounding so terribly desperate. She genuinely does not want Alucard to leave, he's the only friend she currently has. Roger let out a sigh, his body sore from walking and his mind awfully tired that he couldn't quite think straight. He won't be able to rest until he knows that Ruby is away from danger.

Roger does want Alucard to stay away from Ruby for a while, but Ruby's adorable, yet sad face made him feel guilty if he makes Alucard stay away from her. "I don't know what kind of relationship Alucard has with that woman, but he killed her. Alucard might hurt you, and I don't want that to happen. What if he-"
"He won't hurt me! Alucard is a nice guy!" Ruby quickly interrupted Roger while he was speaking. Tears began to form in her eyes, slowly dropping down to the edge of her face. Seeing Ruby cried made Roger's heart crack, he felt bad and guilty at himself. "Fine, Alucard will stay," Roger said in defeat, hugging Ruby and then patting her back. Ruby wiped her tears away, returning the hug with a jolly smile. "Thank you, papa!" Ruby said out of delight, her sadness gone in an instant.

Roger broke the hug, his sharp eyes meeting Alucard's. "We need to talk in private," Roger said seriously, walking towards to a corner where it is quiet. Alucard gulped, his fear of angering Roger becoming a reality. "Hope the talk goes well!" Ruby nudged Alucard on the shoulder, cheering him quite a bit. Alucard looked at Ruby, forming a small smile on his face. "Thanks, Ruby. I'll be going then..." Alucard replied rather grimly, walking towards to Roger.

Alucard's footsteps slightly echoed as he walked towards to Roger, showing an unreadable expression. Roger crossed his arm, his cold eyes glancing at Alucard. He looked like he was about to show no mercy. "I can relate to you, Alucard. I also have a curse, and if you dare tell Ruby about this, I will eat you, alive." Roger's words made Alucard terrified and curious at the same time, but mostly terrified. He wonders if Roger has a demon inside his body as well. "I vow to not tell a single soul about your secret, sir." Alucard placed a hand on his chest, his words sincere and pure.

"Before I can tell you my curse, I'll show you something," Roger said, his hand sliding into one of his coat's pockets. Once he felt that he has grabbed a piece of paper, he pulled it out of his pocket to show it to Alucard. It was a medium-sized picture showing Roger and a girl that appears to be Ruby. Alucard looked at the picture confusedly, then looked at Roger. "I don't get it. It's a picture of you and Ruby, is it important?" Alucard asked, grabbing the picture, trying to examine it. Roger let out a chuckle out of his lips, his eyes beginning to grow sorrowful as he looked at the picture. "That girl in this picture isn't Ruby. She is...She was my daughter, Ruth. The flower that outshines the rest, a light so ethereal and pure that it is beyond this world. She was my sweetest girl, she was my home..." Roger formed a smile on his face even though he looked like he was about to tear up. Alucard can tell from the tone of his voice that he's dejected, something tragic must have happened to his daughter. "What happened to her? If you don't mind me asking, sir." Alucard asked, hoping to get an answer from him.
