Morning soon arrived. The sun raised itself to radiate away some of the darkness. The night sky and stars slowly beginning to disappear, soon going to be replaced by the twilight created by the refraction and scattering of the sun's rays from the atmosphere.
The beautiful sphere of fire looked alluring in the horizon, the colors of twilight breath taking. Karina watched it rise, its light making the darkness fade away each time it moves. "Before we go kill that demon queen. I need to finish a meeting first in the magnificent Land of Dawn." Estes said, grabbing his things to place it back inside his bag.
Karina stopped watching the sun to look at him, her eyes curious. She is very fond of gathering information, it can tell you so much about your enemies' weaknesses or about your allies. To Karina, Information is valuable. "Why is this more important?" Karina asked, standing up to her feet to warm up her body. "One of the Guardians of the Land of Dawn summoned me to arrive at their home as soon as possible. It's been decades-no, it has been centuries since any Guardians called someone to come meet them." Estes answered, closing his bag then wore it on his back. He stood up, his hand going inside one of his pants' pockets, pulling out a glowing sphere with something moving inside. "Why do we need a portal ball, aren't we near in the Land of Dawn? You shouldn't waste a good item like this." Karina stared at the sphere, sensing something powerful that is abnormal to be inside a typical portal ball. "I know you sense it. This ball is specially created by the Guardian whom summoned me. Unlike an ordinary portal ball that can take you to realms and different worlds, this portal ball is made out of special ingredients and magic that can take you to secret places that is impossible to get to by normal transports and by an ordinary portal ball." Estes explained, throwing the portal ball to the ground.
The portal ball made a loud noise as it hit the grassy ground, it's sphere shape shattering into eight individual fragments. The fragments levitated in the air, swirling in a circular motion until it created a portal. In the other side of the portal, they were greeted by a raging blizzard, waiting for them to enter. "We'll freeze to death if we go in there." Karina backed away from the portal, terrified by the blizzard. "You can stay here if you want. I'm not forcing you to come with me. I'll come back as soon as possible, I promise." Estes said, going through the portal to enter this mysterious location hidden within the blizzard. He casts a shield around himself once he took a step on the snowy ground. It's been a long time since I've seen and touched snow, Estes thought.
The last time he had encountered snow was when he was a young elf, he would sometimes play with Miya and she would suggest games like snowball fights and making the best snowman. It was a lovely time for him, but now he's an adult, he has no time for child games nor have fun. Estes once wished that he would like to go back when he was younger, where complicated problems and the hardship of being a King didn't exist yet.
"Good luck in the meeting." Karina said, her voice quite cheerful. Estes turned around to face her, lifting his hand then waved as a saying of good bye. He began to walk towards to a direction where an icy castle will be revealed to him.
Once Estes got far away from Karina, the portal slowly began to close. She heard a whisper, the atmosphere becoming eerie. Karina closed her eyes and listened closely to her surroundings. The noise of the grass being stepped on and the wind becoming like voices, she felt vulnerable somehow. Then Karina realized who this figure hiding within the air is. "Natalia, I know you're close to me." Karina said, opening her eyes to see a hooded woman staring at her. Eyes cold and shows no sympathy, her golden blades shimmered in the sun's light, though beautiful, the golden blades looked deadly and terrifying. "You're not going to follow him?" Natalia questioned, her eyes showing suspicion. "Do you want me to die inside that blizzard?" Karina glanced at Natalia. The hooded assassin scoffed, looking away from Karina. "Obviously not. Why didn't you just ask him to cast a protection spell on you as well? Would have been easier." Natalia crossed her arms, her voice showing irritation. "Guardians are powerful beings, if I were to show up in their place. They would instantly find me as a threat to them." Karina turned her body to face the opposite direction.
Natalia sighed, looking at the portal that is slowly beginning to close itself. She made herself invisible, snatching Karina's blades away from her. The hooded assassin immediately threw it though the portal, Karina's blades laying flat on the snow.
Karina punched Natalia's arm. "Why did you threw my precious blades?!" She asked angrily, only to get a chuckle from Natalia as an answer. "Better go get it or the snow will bury your blades." Natalia grinned deviously, disappearing within the bushes.
Karina had no choice, without her blades, she'll be very weak. She decided to jump through the portal, quickly going over to her blades to grab it. Karina sighed in relief, turning herself around to see the portal instantly gone. Her eyes widened in surprise, then let out a groan of frustration. She enters a state of elusiveness, the snow unable to hit her for a few seconds. Karina continued to go into the elusive state time to time as she ran towards the direction where Estes went.
The female night elf arrived in front of a castle made out of thick ice. Luckily for Karina, the doors are wide opened. She quickly went inside the castle without hesitation or a thought of what will show up. Once inside, she surprisingly felt warmth within the castle that is made out of ice. How peculiar, Karina said inside her mind. She curiously looked around the castle for a few minutes until she stopped in front of a door. Karina can hear two voices talking behind the door. She grabbed the door's handle then twisted it, pushing it forward to make a little opening to see who's inside.
"One of the Guardians sent me a ripped page, but it is in ancient Elf language. Elven King Estes, would you kindly to translate it for me? The Guardian whom sent me this chapter said it was important, but only the royal-blooded elves knows the ancient Elf language." A sorrowful, female voice asked the Estes. Karina quietly pushed the door until she could slip her body inside. She closed it quietly then silently dashed into the shadows. Estes looked at Aurora, the Queen of northernmost land, Nost Gal, and one of four Guardians of the Land of Dawn. "Of course, your majesty." Estes answered, carefully grabbing the page that is ripped out from a book. From the condition of the page, it looked prehistoric. Estes read it in silent, some of the words too blurry to read. From what Estes's analyzed, the writing style of the page looked like it came out of a diary or a journal.
The skies were covered by the dark, raining clouds. The thunders roared like lions and the trees moved violently with the strong wind. I stood in front of my beloved friend-no, she is more than that. She was outstanding and courageous. Her brave heart and actions turned her into a legend, a hero that everyone will remember for aeons.
I sat down on the wet, muddy ground that dirtied my clothes. "How are you?" I said, but no reply came out. I looked crazy, hoping that she would reply like always, but this time, she didn't.After reading the page, Estes translated the words, then said it to Aurora. "Is that it? I do not understand why it is important. Maybe he sent me the wrong one, I have been getting random messages and deliveries lately because of my harsh blizzards that keeps my castle hidden away..." Aurora said, tipping her chin then began to think. "From the handwriting, it looks similar to my Father's handwriting. May I keep this for the moment? I'll show this to him then give it back to you." Estes asked, staring at the page, trying to analyze it more. "Of course. King Estes, may I ask if you have brought someone with you? My castle is sensing me that someone went inside without my permissions." Aurora said, her voice becoming colder and harsh. "It must be my friend, Karina. She won't attack unless you attack her first." Estes said, looking around the area, but didn't saw Karina. "Do you know that you friend is being controlled by a demon?" Aurora asked again, standing up to her throne. "I am aware. Do you know a spell that can break it?" Estes answered, his turn to ask Aurora. The Queen shook her head, walking towards to Estes. She appeared a large book in her hands, handing it to Estes. "This is the book that the page is ripped apart from. It has different ancient languages and unique chapters. I can only read the ancient mage language that is inside this book, and I have to say that this book is interesting, it tells you about the first legendary heroes and heroines that fought in the Land of Dawn. Although some of the pages are lost and destroyed, maybe you will find some answers here if you can understand the many ancient languages that is written inside this book," Aurora formed a slight smile on her face. "Or maybe you'll be able to save someone you love by reading this book."
